Climbers Found Dead

The bodies of one man, and three women from Britain, New Zealand, France and Chile, respectively were found Tuesday, July 24th, on Mount Blanc by the specialist alpine gendarmerie from nearby Chamonix at 13,120ft, the BBC reports.

They had been trapped by strong winds and heavy snow at 13,572ft and had managed to send out a distress call, but weather conditions prevented their rescue. The police suggested that they had been under-equipped for the ascent.

Other climbers on the mountain had managed to escape unhurt, with two Czech climbers being successfully rescued by helicopter.
