On the January 3, 2013, Daniel Woods was able to send a V14 boulder problem in the Southeast. The problem, named Aggravated Assault is located in Griffin Falls, Alabama.
The Southeast has some of America’s best bouldering destinations, where boulders can be found spread all over the region. Some of the most well known areas for bouldering include HorsePens 40, Little Rock City, and Rocktown, but none of them have yet to produce a V14.
Most climbers visiting Griffin Falls come for the 30 plus traditional and sport lines, but there are a number of bouldering problems to tackle.
Aggravated Assault is believed to be the first V14 in the Southeast and consists of 12 moves on a 50 degree roof, its begins with a crouched start with a right hand on a sloping pinch and left hand on a flat wedge and Daniel describes the rest as “Violent moves to the fullest."
Tyler Wilcutt and Les Warnock who are locals in the Southeast cleaned the problem and then showed it to Jimmy Webb. Jimmy started working the line and sent some pictures to Daniel which got him psyched to visit the problem. Jimmy and Daniel managed to send this problem that day with Daniel getting the first ascent.
Daniel Woods also described Aggravated Assault as "Very powerful movement on weird, flat, not so positive edges going out a 50 degree roof.”
