2011 Reel Rock Filmmaking Competition
![]() |
It's that time again, another year has passed and we're already on to the start of the forth annual Reel Rock Filmmaking Competition
Founders Josh Lowell and Peter Mortimer began organizing local tours to showcase their creations when they realized that the outdoor community was hungry for more than just a couple of small film festivals. Both skilful and highly accomplished in film making, they sought a way to bring outdoor adventure films to the masses.
In 2006 they formed Reel Rock, an effort that would seek to expand the showcasing of climbing and outdoor adventure films. Their efforts were not in vain as Reel Rock grew and was widely accepted and appreciated by outdoor communities around the world.
In 2008 Reel Rock began running a competition which would continue to be an annual event. The competition was based around the idea that film makers around the world would get a chance to have their work seen by thousands of people. Each year the Reel Rock competition draws participants from all areas, seeking to have their creations shown to over 30 000 people, in over 100 different locations.
In 2009 Reel Rock screened in over 120 locations across the world, drawing in excess of 35 000 audience members and raising in excess of $15 000 for non-profit organizations.
In 2010 Reel Rock continued to grow, with in excess of 50 000 viewers across the globe, and they show no signs of slowing down.
Don't miss out on the opportunity, be sure to submit your entry before the 15 June 2011. Prizes include $500, amazing gear packages and of course the chance to have your film shown around the world!
