Adam Ondra - The Climbing Genius at the IMS
The who is who of the international scene of climbing and mountaineering will meet in Brixen/Bressanone, South Tyrol from the 21st until the 30th of October. Once again the organizers of this mountain platform have succeeded in bringing more than 15 of the most famed alpinists to the International Mountain Summit. This year extraordinary climbers are at the centre of attention.
On Saturday, 29th of October a teenager known in climbing history as czech wunderkind will be on the stage of the IMS. After his redefinition of the sport, nothing seems impossible any longer - and topping it all has become all the more conceivable. Four 8c+ routes climbed on-sight within only a few days (two of which with only an hour's break in between) are proof enough that he is simply exceptional. At the age of only 13 Adam Ondra, the Czech genius, was already among the world's top climbers. Together with his parents, who are both climbers themselves, he has travelled the world's mountains ever since he can remember. And there's simply no stopping him.
All climbing lovers can´t wait to witness the presence of Chris Sharma on Saturday, 22nd of October 2011 at the IMS. The "Californian sunny boy" started climbing at the age of twelve and has been one of the most creative of his sport ever since. None other reflects climbing as a life style as Chris Sharma does. Bouldering is another of his master disciplines. The 30-year-old currently lives in Catalonia (Spain) with his climber girlfriend Daila Ojeda and works with his friends, among which Dani Andrada, on finding new routes that push the boundaries of what can be done on the rocks.
All visitors of the IMS Talks this year can look forward to a couple of changes which will allow the public to be even more integrated. Every Talk will be followed by a moderator, all journalists and mountain specialists. They do not just introduce the climber and his career, but after the presentation is finished they will conduct a discussion with the alpinist. Visitors of the IMS have the opportunity to start a dialogue by asking questions to the lecturer, creating a direct exchange between the alpinist and his admirers. This underlines the philosophy of the IMS to be a platform for exchange and discussion.
