Competition Overview:

Points are earned by completing a problem from start to finish with no deductions for multiple tries. Completion of a problem or send is determined by either topping out or controlling the final hold. The final score will be the sum of the point values for a climber’s top ten completed problems or sends.

A red-point format competition allows for multiple attempts on a problem. Points are scored only for the completion or send of a problem. Competitors must climb from the beginning of the problem and are required to match (control using both hands) on the final hold for a period of at least 3 seconds or top out in order to receive credit for completing the problem. Each problem is assigned a difficulty grade (reference “Arkansas Rock Climbing”) and the points for scoring correspond to the difficulty of each grade. There will be no deductions for multiple attempts; however, each problem may only be scored once.

All climbing shall be done in groups of at least 3 thus allowing for competitors to witness each other’s climbs. When a competitor sends a problem, he or she must have two witnesses initial his/her scorecard in the space next to the named problem. A climbers top ten initialed problems will be summed for a total score.

All competitors will climb during the same time period and are allowed to observe other climbers prior to their own attempts. Competitors may also discuss the problems amongst each other.
