Australian Climbing Festival draws to a close

The Australian climbing Festival has now run its course over the Saturday and the Sunday of the Easter long weekend. Highlights were the presence of Timmy O'Neil, Peter Croft, Arno Ilgner, HB Malcolm Matheson and Simon Carter. Adam and Claire Donohue have exhibited a monumental amount of organisational ability to have brought about the successful running of this world class event.

Many events were running concurrently such as the climbing competition as well as a chin up comp, slack line comp over a swimming pool. Clinics ran continuously over the weekend as did forums for ndebates and access discussions. Bob McMahon from Tasmania presented an awesome slide show at the same time that the immensely amusing funny guy oif climbing Timmy O'Neil was doing his thing to an auditorium chock a block with his adoring fans. Timmy organised a raid on the hapless Bob McMahon and they kidnapped him and brought him up on stage.

During the slackline comp one strapping young lad dressed as Borat complete with over the shoulders g string made quite an impression on the crowd.

A bolting workshop was also conducted where ethics were discussed and the issue of liabilty was raised.

Many retailers had their stalls set up in the main exhibition hall and a brisk trade was carried on. The gallery exhibited many fine works of art as well as the best of Australian photography.

The event was extremely well patronised as we all look forward to this 2 yearly event far into the future.
