I have an eighteen foot testing bed with a four foot stroke ram. It is moved by a variable speed pump and runs off 210 volt electrics. I use a sensotronics load cell and GSE data aquisition unit. I then have a concrete human form dummy with anchors at the neck, crotch and arms for attatchment. it cost me about 4000 for the test bed and 3500 for the elctronics (load cell and data unit). But this was 12 years ago... im sure prices have come down,....and i bought everything new and hired someone to build/engineer the bed for me to exact specs. I back up my load cell readings against the pressure readings for which i have a peak hold needle. After obtaining the peak pressure in the pressure guage,i can apply the conversion calc number based on the cylinder/ram and get a number in pounds... So the load cell and pressure guages act as self accuracy checking devices. My GSE data collection unit does not sample at a high enough rate for drop testing from what i understand (im not expert by any measure with setting up the intricacies of the equipment)... My GSE samples at 100 units per second....to slow for dynamic drop tests i think.
