About five months ago, I was able to sign up with RMI to climb Mt. Rainier. I trained hard, and even went to Vertical Endeavors (indoor climbing in Minnesota) to learn to belay, tie knots, etc. I had tried climbing a few times before, but do not have a lot of experience. The Mt. Rainier climb was incredible, to say the least. It was not as hard as I expected (or trained for). We got close to the summit (~12,000 feet), but were turned around due to the weather. I'll sign up to try again next year, but in the meantime, I need something to do. I live in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area. I enjoy mountaineering more than local rock climbing, but am willing to try and learn anything until I can get back on the mountain next year. What do people recommend I try? Ice climbing this winter? Any good fall ideas? Where?
