What is the best/coolest piece of non-climbing booty you have ever found? Yesterday, after pulling through the crux of a .10 crack I rested at a perfect hand jam, and was pleasantly surprised by 2 dollars resting amiably in the crack. cha ching.

Found an unopened liter of water after long running out of water ourselves on a hot day of climbing at Red Rocks. It was the day of the great booty find, with cams, biners and nuts, oh my! but the water was the most exciting find of the day.

I found a dollar coin tucked into this perfect hand pocket at a remote bouldering area - I think it was someone's way of seeing if anyone else bouldered there. So I took it, the only piece of change I had was a dime, so I left that, later it was gone, then a few weeks later a quarter was there. I felt a little bad, because I came out way ahead monetarily. Were the dollars stuck in the crack, or just sitting there for a gust of wind to claim?

They were just sitting there folded up, but I don't think the wind could taken them - their hiding spot was pretty protected. I felt kind of bad not leaving anything. But all I had on me were the keys to my car, and my wedding ring. So... yeah, I'll bring something to put up there next time.

My partner and I found a 35mm film canister full of dank weed. It was just sitting there on a rock at the base of a route. That was the same day that we found a #5 camalot as booty!

I was on the hike out from a long climb in the back country and came across a six pack of beer just sitting there in a creek. My partner and I took one, left 5 bucks on the bank and continued on.

Left it for a couple of weeks, came back and it was still there getting rained on so I took it home. It was a great device until a buddy and I started taking it apart to see how it worked. One spring in particular released something that wouldn't go back in. Never worked again and we never figured out how it worked.

When I got to the Bizmark Ledge on Mescalito, there was a six pack of beer sitting there! Talk about sweet! Since then, I like to bring something for the next guy whenever I climb a wall: a half finished bottle of whiskey, a couple of joints with some matches, a Penthouse magazine, and oysters are a few of the things I've left behind.

Beer left behind is not booty. Who ever forgets beer, especially keeping cold in a creek? Creeks are the perfect refrigerator for beer as is a snow bank. Nothing better than a cold beer taken from the creek after a day climbing. Always figured some dumb hunter would come across my beer in a creek and nab it, disappointed to hear climbers would make the same mistake.

Actually not.... we were at our local crag and a small group of people were picnicing there, since it was also a great scenic lookout. After everyone had departed the crag we topped out on our last climb of the day. Before us we spied a whole watermellon just sitting in a small pool of water in the granite. It was one of the best watermellons I've ever eaten! Yum!! We both devoured the lot before walking back to the car.

This isn't really booty, but my wife and I came down from Seneca to find a couple beers under the shade of our Jeep. We met a guy whose partners never showed and took him climbing with us. We said good bye at the base of the rock at the end of the day, as he was in a rush. Once when topping out at Seneca, I left a package of cheese crackers in the summit registry. A couple weeks later, I was chatting with a guide. It turns out his clients found and happily devoured them. It put a smile on my face.

I found a single mattress and box spring even a frame by a dumpster this week :) Normally I would be really skeptical about something like this, but there were no stains didn't smell, a little bit of disinfect spray and its good to go. It was a great find cause I'm sleeping on an air mattress right now.

While taking a "shortcut" at Enchanted Rock (ok, we were off-trail and bush wacking) we came across a 4 pound lead diver's weight. Guess someone had put in someone else's pack for a joke and when they found it they just chucked it off into the brush.

I did a traverse solo in Glacier Nat. Park at the recomendation of a really avid and in shape friend. On the morning of the second day, on the climb up a heavily brushed/cliffy ridge I spied something shiny in the burnt remnants of the brush (fire the previous summer topped this ridge). Upon closer inspection I found it to be a woman's anklet, and not a chear one. Now mind you this is very obscure country and only a half dozen people have ever been there. Also it is very big country, and seeing something like this was very rare indeed. When I came back to town I dropped in to the local gear store and looked for Stormy. She was to work in a couple days and I returned then. When I asked if she lost something, she said she had, a visor cap was blown off her head. When I inquired about anything else, she knew what I had found, and we both were in total disbelief that a one in a billion chance thing had happened. The best part is she is foreign born and this had charms on it from her past and was very dear to her. Best kinda booty ever. PS. had to bail on the route, it was way over may head, both stamina and technically. Even the bail was at the edge of my ability. Damn woman is a goat I tell ya. Bob
