What is it with people ressurrecting posts lately? It seems that every other thread I enter is from like 5 years ago. You see, this is what happens when you tell people to do a search. From now on, if you have a question that is not answered by a search than post it up, and all those internet wisenheimers can eat it. I for one, do not get annoyed by people posting stuff that's been discussed before. If you do, then you have too much time on your hands, in which case why don't you do something productive, like donate your time to a charity. If that's not your bag, than go climb. If your not really a climber and all you know how to do is to flame people on the internet, then carry on. I guess everyone's got to have a niche. Josh p.s. I predict someone will tell me to do a search, because this has been discussed before.

I do not have a real response to this right now. However, wait five years and I will blow everyone away with my insight.

Mods/programmers? Could this be added? d.

Going to the last page, where everything is unread, thinking they're all new posts. Why not some script keyed off "Post Reply" that looks at the date of the message you're responding to, and if it's more than a couple weeks old, pop up a window that says something to that effect?

Josh- It's being done intentionally by people who think they're being cute. ed: It makes me a little sad seeing posts from people who have since passed on, but other than that, I don't really have an opinion.

This is something that's been discussed on other boards I frequent. If people keep rehashing topics, people tell them to do a search and to bump old threads. If people bump an old thread, people cry about threadsurrection. Basically, new people wanting to discuss a frequent subject are damned regardless. It seems the best tactic is to start with, "I searched some old threads, but I still wonder if..." Then finish with some self-effacing comment.

Its already an option, but not available when you use the search box in the upper right corner of the screen (red arrow). If you use the link to the Search page (green arrow in pic above) you'll get the option to sort by date or relevance (red and green arrows in pic below). A bit annoying that the quick search doesn't default to date, but it is what it is. Ooo - I didn't know that. And with arrows too! Thanks Aric.

How to search properly. Now I can find all the oldest posts even easier. Thanks adatesman Poor RC.com is never going to be the same now. I am barfing sick of the crap threads lately. I am also getting bored with trolling around here. So I want something with substaince. I am about to purchase a new life off of Ebay. I just have to win the bid.. Other than that. If we would all stop being ass hats and actually work on posting decently this place would probably be a better place to get great advice, But its RC.COM not just a troll here and there. A fuckin city of assholes waiting to pounce on somebody for the smallest of reasons. So I find the only real way to find real answers to questions is to look at the past. When the posters on RC.COM actually cared about the site and posted actual answers to a question at hand. Now its a bunch of douches acting like they are in a lynch mob. Waiting for a chance to strike. Fuckin Vultures we have turned out to be. So I am going to try and refrain from the douchery and actually try to be more of a asset to the site rather than the Mob. The campground forums are still fair game if you ask me. I know its hard to not attack some of the posters here and some questions seem retarded. I have fallin victim to the crap myself but I believe it has gotten out of hand. So much so that RC.COM has seriously turned to a hot pile of steamy crap.

I look forward to the new you... but for some reason I won't be holding my breath. This place went to the shitter the day tim left imo. But I am also glad it never became what some here envision to this day. And I still like a lot of folks here and don't mind helping the occasional noob. And standing up for majid - I like that too. I would argue that the effect is markedly different. A suggestion here will go unnoticed while one in S&F will be ignored. On a serious note, I agree the color thing is silly but it's probably built into the forum software and adding it was simply a matter of flipping a switch. Most everything else on the list is not so simple and with the current economy causing to advertisers scale back (they feed the hamster, so to speak) it shouldn't be surprising that there's not much of a development budget at the moment. I wish it were otherwise, since I'd love if there were a user-based troll rating system to make all the stupid stuff disappear. It was brought up FAR before the economy went down.. it was far before J-ung was in his position.. it was before we had a stupid monkey logo.. the suggestions have been ignored since the airplane jumpers took over.. if not before then.
