So I posted this design in the "best climbing shirts" thread but started my own because I'm going to have this design screen printed and I need to get an idea of what sizes/quantities I should have made up. I'll be charging $15.00 for the shirt plus shipping which will probably cost around $5.00 for the states. I'd be willing to ship elsewhere but at an increased price, obviously. So what do you guys think? [*update edit*] So I got the shirts and they look good but they didn't print as well as I'd hoped. The yellow didn't turn out as bright as I wanted and some of the detail was lost. Here are some pics of the actual print... Sizing: The shirts are a standard fit and are pre-shrunk. Here's a pic of me in a Medium. I'm 5'9" and weight 155lbs... [*update edit-2-26-10*] Edit to add: I've added a page on climbingtrash.com just for this shirt and orders can be placed there. I'm out of smalls for now but I've still got Medium, Large, and XL. Click on the logo below... [*update edit-12-14-10*] I've got more shirts in and spent a little more on a local printer. Price now is $15.00 plus S&H. Click on the link above to order. [*update edit-1-9-14*] Got another batch of these printed.

I just wish this was available when I made my Cafepress order of your other shirt. I've got a mailbox in NY that gets forwarded to me. I'll see if I can justify spending $30 on a $12 shirt.

Awesome! I would buy one in either a small or medium (depending on what sizes you decide to run).

For now I'm only going to have this screen printed in yellow on a red shirt. (keeps the cost down) I'm going to have 50 printed in S,M,L,XL and I'm thinking I should go heavier on the medium and large sizes. The shirt I'm going to use is the Gildan 5.3oz shirt. I have a few of the Gildan shirts and they have a good fit. I'm going to place the order today so I should have the shirts next week. I also have this design up on my cafepress.com site and the one I got from them printed pretty good and you can get it on other colors. It just costs a lot more there. Thanks for all the positive feedback and I'll keep everyone posted.

You might want to post at Supertopo too. They have a guy there who does t's and he usually gets a good response when he posts his designs(though most are repro's on older climber art). I think the Red/gold is the *right* choice since it reinforces the imagery of revolution. But I suppose black on white would work too. I like the idea - well done. Alas I have too many climbing t's of my own....

When I read the title I was imagining the clean climbing revolution so I imagined no hammers or pitons. Still a cool design.

I like the shirt. Why not use zazzle (www.zazzle.com)? You wouldn't need to bother yourself with hassles of production and predicting demand. I am NOT associated with zazzle, I just find the idea of on-demand manufacturing interesting.

I am NOT associated with zazzle, I just find the idea of on-demand manufacturing interesting. He already uses a print-on-demand through cafepress. I think his reasoning was that he wanted to be able to get the item out to people at a lower cost. The P-O-D places do take a huge amount of the effort off the sellers hands, but their base price is also high. It's possible(though offhand I think not) CT will get the same markup doing it this way.... Wait til he gets to deal with closing on the orders, getting payments, getting addresses, packaging and so on.... The shirts are worth more than $12.

Well, if that's the case and he comes back on board....Zazzle is f'in cumbersome to work with setting up designs... Nice that a person can customize the design(increase/decrease image size, move it higher/lower, add text, etc), but from the perspective of someone(like me) who is trying to set up shops with multiple graphics....yuck. What a nightmare.

Yeah, there are more color options on my cafepress site. The only reason I decided to screen print this was because with it only being a single color it keeps the cost of printing the shirt within reason.

I like the design and I like the colors, but I am hesitant to buy shirts off the internet anymore. I just don't know what size I am anymore. It used to be medium, but now I take a small in many brands. I guess since everyone is getting bigger they are just making the sizes bigger. Josh

I really like it. Except for the McDonalds color theme. I live in Ohio. People would start asking me what McDonalds I got it at. And I think it would look better with a couple of trees (in the same style as the star) with a moon or in front of a stylized picture of El Cap or half dome. I really think you should take this theme and run with it. As a female climber, I would love to have one with a female figure climbing (composed of gear).

I know this thread is about Climbing Trash' design being produced through a printer of his choice. But - Just a note for those who have some concerns about buying blindly on the internet. IF you like the design enough to pay the price he's listed on CafePress, they have a 100% Customer Satisfaction policy. If the color isn't what you expected, the shirt or print quality isn't as you'd wished, the size is wrong...you got religion and now see climbing as the devil's handiwork - for what ever reason - CafePress will replace or refund. They are exceptionally good about this. I don't know the shirt he is using for his own print job here(but another poster has vouched for it as being good for the cost, I think). But the "dark color Men's/Women's T" that is in his CP shop is very good for what it costs. It doesn't have one of those "ooooh, soffffft like Charmin TP" hands, but then....it doesn't cost $35 either. I've probably ordered, for various reasons, about 100 different shirts from CP since I started my shop. They do a good job, and again, they do have an excellent satisfaction policy. One thing I would say that bugs me about CP, though, is they price the women's shirts higher than the men's. I even them out and sell at the same price, but not all sellers do. Climbing Trash - it might be something you might consider! And about the design - while for sure it isn't for everyone, but it's a well done graphic for the concept and theme that it has. I am jealous, because I could never have made it!

Gildan is ok... but you might get some better options if you search around, there are a few nice organics available now. But if price is your concern... Yeah, I know there are better shirts out there but cost was the deciding factor. Word. I do a lot of shirts, and I seem to come back to Gildan a lot too! The fruit of the loom loftees are pretty decent too. They have a similar slim (relative to the non climbing sloth-population) cut and price point. Good luck! I look forward to mine. And don't sweat the URL haters, you did a decent job incorporating it into the design. Thanks. I thought about leaving the logo off but then figured what the hell. It didn't seem to detract the design with as busy as it is. First of all, I already have too many tees personally, so something would have to be exceptional for me to buy another. Sometimes I like wearing one from a gym or manufacturer that I have direct knowledge of, and am willing to tout their qualities. Other times I like to be original, or awestruck by the graphics. My first thought was that your design was novel and I admired the effort, but like DMT, I don't know you from Adam and can't blindly subscribe to a color scheme that I don't love and a website I don't know. Besides, I hate people looking at the small print on my body. It's degrading. So let's get to know each other edge. I'm a Scorpio. I like Dr.Pepper and Dewars and my middle name is Steven. Yeah, I didn't expect everyone to love the design. Kinda surprised by how many do. Oooooh. A Scorpio. I'm a Pisces. We are supposed to be LEGENDARY in...belaying each other. *wink wink* Oooo...I've never been belayed by a Pisces before. Yur crag or mine?

happiegrrrl wrote: I know this thread is about Climbing Trash' design being produced through a printer of his choice. Your right about cafepress and their satisfaction policies. They screwed up an order of mine once and replaced what was missing free of charge. i didn't realize that about the women's apparel. I'll have to go make some adjustments in my shop. I updated the original post this morning with some pics of the printed design for those who may still be interested. Oh, and Edge...don't knock the DP. and Dewars 'till you've tried it.

I think you are too picky in feeling the print isn't as crisp as you like. The shirt looks great. Of course it is going to be a different cast than a computer screen with the lighting behind it. But I look at the photo images and say that's a good match. They look great! FYI - I see in CT's shop he added a sticker with the same design. Some people would probably like that for their car.

If I have another printing done I'll use a local company I can sit down with and may tweak the design a bit so some of the detail is easier to print. So far everyone that's gotten a shirt has been happy with it.

I don't push products much, but I mentioned your design on my blog. Nothing fancy, but I get a few hundred hits a week, so maybe someone will come your way. http://class5photos.blogspot.com/...sh-short-design.html Are you happy with cafe-press. I've consider creating an account with them, but haven't committed yet. Eman

Yeah - include the link. Or is that just some sick marketing ploy to have the guy click around looking for it.... ahahah RE: CafePress - I have been doing stuff on there for a couple years now, and am pretty satisfied. There are pros and cons. One of the biggest con's is that they changed their policy on commissions a few months ago. - You can mark your items to whatever price you want(of course it cannot go below the base price CP charges), BUT there are two ways someone can get "to' your product on the site. First, you drive them there through whatever way you do(websites, someone sends a link to them in an email, your shop comes up in a search, or what have you.) The other way is if they come in THROUGH the CafePress website. CafePress has really good SEO and unless you do too, anyone who enters "rock climbing t-shirt(or just about anything and t-shirt) into a search, the CP site will come up first. So, the person will click that, and may find your design.... In THAT scenario(which they call Marketplace) you only receive a 10% commission on your item. Not only that - CP makes their OWN price, which most likely is NOT the same as what you are pricing at. In fact, they keep changing the prices around as *test* to see which people like the most.... So - you can sell a shirt for $25.00, and have your markup of, say, $5.00 or $10 or whatever. But if "CP sells" the same item at $22.00, you only get $2.20. The thing you need to do is to drive the business to your shop yourself. CafePress will NOT do that for you. You have to do that with really good SEO, because there are pro sellers on there who DO have good SEO, and their crappy clip art "IClimb"(with an image of a person on rappel) will come up on page 1 while your item may be buried wherever.... People will NOT find your goods if you just put them up there and hope. Believe me - I know. The quality on CP is good, though on occasion the print may not be as great as you were hoping. What I discovered is that this is mostly my own fault, in not understanding the qualities needed to be put in to get good quality out. CP has an excellent customer satisfaction policy, and that is really great. If your customer doesn't like it - for whatever reason - they will refund or replace. They do all the invoicing and shipping, and customer service, not to mention having the inventory of blanks ready to print on demand, which is a HUGE expense for someone to undertake on their own. And they do it well. Personally, I am happy with CP except for they did that 10% commission change. It really sucks. But I am doing what I can to drive people directly to my shop, whereas for many years I just didn't get how important that aspect of the equation was. So long as CP doesn't change their policy AGAIN(which they can, at any time), and limit the price we sellers can put our goods out at, I will stay there. The other "most used" print on demand place is Zazzle.com and I haven't got much experience with them yet. From what I am seeing, other sellers are happy with them. The service is good, the shirt and print quality is good. I find the platform very confusing and am only just beginning to understand how to actually get my shop the way I want it. But - that might be because I expect it to be "like" cafepress, and the system is totally not the same. Zazzle has microfiber shirts, which makes them attractive. CP doesn't. And they have a variety of shirt styles that CP doesn't have. They are a little more expensive. One thing to be sure to do(which I didn't) is to make sure you keep files of any artwork you upload to these places. So that when they change policy, you can go somewhere else with your designs. They will not send them back to you. And in some ways they retain rights to the images and their use(in promotions, for example). If these issues are critical for you - you should be sure to understand what the small print says.

Thanks all! And feel free to use the pic if it will help you out. The ring came out beautifully, just a simple unobtrusive flat band. Working and staying employed long enough to buy the platinum was harder than making the ring.

But let me rework the "Dude I'm a girl" design first...need to change the colors so they print a bit closer to what you see here. I'll have it up by morning and let you know.

Hey gmgg Isn't you the guy that works for the treadwall people??\ What would it cost to ship one to South africa? It's a bit of $ unfortunately but mostly due to the cost of crating. The actual shipping charge is about the same as going to the west coast of the US - ocean freight is pretty reasonable. But we did just send one to Eiger Equipment in Milnerton. SA is pretty small I'm sure you're at least biking distance from there. And to keep this on topic it would make a great backdrop for a shot of the climbing rev. shirt.

I was just close by Milnerton the other day, but I didn't know that store had a treadwall, otherwise I would have stopped by. Visit to Cape Town shall now be sceduled to test a treadwall, and see if it's worth the effort and money to ship. I shall go by plain or plane depending on my state of enlightenment.
