I like a lot of hiphop. It's about all I've been buying and listening to for the past few months. It's just like about every other genre of music: there are good and bad groups out there, and unfortunately, it is often the mediocre groups that receive the most exposure. Please don't judge all hiphop on P. Diddy anymore than you would judge climbing on Tori Allen.

I don't like rap, but I HATE pop. At least rappers write their own lyrics, even if they sample the music.

That's true, but rap isn't exactly a hard thing to write either. Some people things so, I don't know why. Perhaps they have no rhyming ability? Still, rap and pop both sound the same and have no originality, but pop is worse. All those "vocalists" sound the same and couldn't hit a note it their lives counted on it. No, vibrato doesn't cound. They seem to think it's cool and use the sh*t out of it. It sounds stupid. Like you're sining into a fan or something. If I had to pick the lesser of two evils, I'd pick rap over pop as long as the rap wasn't stereotypical and about the usual unimaginative garbage. Hos, pimps, guns, killing, etc. Either way, they both suck.

Amen. I like some old school rap, back when it had some meaning and wasn't all the same. But yeah, it is definitely picking the lesser of 2 evils.

most of you are also getting the mainstream version of "rap" as well. bear this in mind as there is a huge underground scene that abounds with thought provoking, witty, and intelligent lyrics. what they do as artists is every bit as difficult as any other form of artistic expression. just keep in mind you are probably only aware of a modicum of it and your close mindedness is preventing you from appreciating the finer points of what you are hearing... i hate this thread

back in the 50s, certain record producers had nice, clean, white singers such as Pat Boone record songs by black artists such as Little Richard (like Tutti Frutti). The reason for this was that they believed that white teens would not like the "dirty" style of black artists. This is exactly what rap metal is for today's kids. You like rap, but you can't handle it in its true, unadulturated form. You have to have a sterilized, white version of it. suckahzz

As a fan of rap, I'll agree that it sucks, if you don't like it, and buy the good stuff. radio rap is soooo bad. but anyone who says that the roots, 2-pac, Beastie Boys, tribe called Quest, etc are bad, they don't understand the difference between not liking something, and something sucking......

Oh, and by the way, Mr. Lif has something to say about your thought that rap isn't political. Headline: Bush steals the presidency He needs the backing of the media what could the remedy be? The country's headed for recession reminiscent of the Great Depression Are lives worth a world of power? Easy question This further demonizes Afghanis So Americans cheer while we kill their innocent families And what better place to start a war To build a pipeline to get the oil that they had wanted before America supported the Taliban To get Russia out of Afghanistan That's how they got the arms in They're in a war against the Northern Alliance And we can't build a pipeline in hostile environments Here's what your history books won't show: You're a dead man for %@#$ing with American dough But my eyes are wide open and my TV is off Great, 'cause I save on my electricity cost And you can wave that piece of $#!& flag if you dare But they killed us because we've been killing them for years HEAR THAT

"ain't nothin' but a J-Tree thing, baby" "two loked out climbers goin' crazy" "slingin' ganja is the label that pays me" Actually, acts like Arrested Devolpment are droppin some serious knowledge. You can't write Speech's lyrics without his realizations. Conscious hip-hop ios where it's at.

Oh by the way: whoever said i have a closed mind is a fuk head. I simply can't stand rap. I hate the sound of turn tables screechin and the fake bass drums thudding. I simply can't stand to listen to it, even if the lyrics were super poetic, I couldn't stand to listen to it. Just like lots of people can't stand to listen to death metal...but everyone knows a crap load of distortion sounds cool besides, at least metal isn't played on a keyboard

I'd like to welcome you to this little place I like to call "reality" Guitars make music. Sum 41 plays guitar. A bad guitar is more musical then a bunch of thumps and beeps coming out of a keyboard.

I do listen to some Dimmu - Spiritual Black Dimension is one of the best non-At The Gates metal albums out there - but they're mostly a little too prog for my taste. Heck, I can even do a little Children of Bodom now and again. But honestly, At The Gates' Slaughter of the Soul album ('96, I think?) is the best metal album ever produced.

THEIR HORRIBLE! have u ever heard jurrasic 5? Its amazing! you cant even compare! and it takes alot of skill to do the s*it they do, have you ever tried a turntable??? its alot harder then it looks. i know you think your the s*it and know everything jumar, but your not
