I just spent an hour and 3 minutes trying to figure out the answers to these questions and couldn't find them!! I'm clueless on the whole bouldering competion thing! I need help!! PLEASE!! If I can't camp, what time should I be there and what time is the slide show over? Is the slide show at LRC or somewhere else? If I do camp, when should I camp, Fri or Sat or both?? How can I sign up? What all is the day like at the competition?? Any info would be appreciated! thanks!

You have to register to go to LRC. I think you can register as a spectator for $40, but why not enter for $45 and get a shirt. There is no camping that I know of, but I could be mistaken. I believe that the competitors are staying at the Mariott in downtown Chattanooga and that's where the slideshow is being held. Competitors and spectators will be bused from somewhere (I don't know yet) to LRC. As far as how the day will go, I'm unsure, but from what I understand everyone will meet and be bused up to LRC, comp starting around 11, ending around 5 or 6... Then bused back to the slideshow, sorry I don't know better times. Maybe if you call Rock Creek in Chatta they can give you specifics on times. http://www.triplecrownbouldering.com/ along with the SCC site will help.

I know there is free camping somewhere and to even watch you have to pay the full $45 so might as well compete. I don't know where we are camping but I think we will get an email the week before like we did for houndears.

So here's the deal on camping for the LRC comp. There is free camping at the Cricket Pavilion in downtown Chattown. This is also where the morning registration and bus pickup happens. It's only a couple of blocks from the Marriott and it should be quite a scene unless you just feel like shelling out the extra dough for a morning shower or would rather sleep up at T Wall with the escaped convicts.

In reply to: Congratulations! You are receiving this e-mail because you are either registered for The Triple Crown or one of the individual competitions within The Triple Crown Series. This e-mail contains VERY important information about these events. SPECTATORS Spectators must register and pay the same as a competitor at The Little Rock City Bouldering Competition. This is due to limited space at the boulderfield as well as limited space on the buses. Just like the competitors, you will receive a free t-shirt, registration packet and after-comp meal. You will also have an opportunity to win door prizes. IF YOU ARE UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE If you are under 18 you MUST download the attached form and have it completed by a parent. You MUST have this form with you when you check-in at the campsite/ride start at The Cricket Pavilion. You must also be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Your parent/guardian MUST register and pay for the competition. If your parent/guardian has not registered, please have them e-mail one of the organizers (e-mails listed below) as soon as possible. This applies only to parents or guardians. Registration for Little Rock City is closed. We will not allow any more competitors or spectators to register for this event. SPECIAL EVENTS The Tennessee Bouldering Authority (TBA) will be holding the annual Masquerade Ball at the bouldering gym on Friday, October 31. Put on your “Halloween Best and show-up there for some fun. Make sure to save some strength for the comp, though! Call 423.822.6800 for more information. Tommy Caldwell and Beth Rodden Caldwell will be presenting a slide show after the competition on November 1, at The Cricket Pavilion. This will be fantastic a presentation. Harrison Shull will also be presenting a slide show and book signing featuring his impressive new book, Southeastern Rock. Everyone is welcome to attend the pre- and post-comp events. Make sure you are there! CAMPING Camping is free and uniquely “urban for The Little Rock City competition. The “campsite is The Cricket Pavilion in downtown Chattanooga. This pavilion is a giant open (yet covered) mall. Feel free to bring a tent for added privacy if you want, but due to the ground surface of the Pavilion (concrete), your tent must be free standing. Make sure to bring a nice air mattress or large therma-rest for added comfort, as well. See our website at www.triplecrownbouldering.org for directions to this site. You can arrive at the site anytime after 4 pm on Friday October 31. There will be police and security guards on duty throughout the competition. However, like all campgrounds, do not leave valuables unattended at your “campsite. There are also many hotels in downtown Chattanooga if you are more reclusive—visit www.chattanooga-chamber.com for complete visitor information. PARKING There is plenty of parking around the Cricket Pavilion. See judges (in yellow shirts) for direction at the site. THE MORNING OF THE EVENT You must be at the Cricket Pavilion no later than 8a.m. for check-in. We will begin loading buses between 8:30 and 9:00a.m. All buses will leave the parking lot of the Cricket Pavilion, no later than 9:30a.m. If you miss this bus, you will miss the competition. You will NOT be allowed to drive to the boulderfield. You will be given one free t-shirt on the morning of the event. If you wish to buy extra t-shirts, the cost will be $15 each. There will be Hound Ears t-shirts, Triple Crown t-shirts, and new Little Rock City t-shirts, as well. There will also be food and coffee available for purchase during the event at the Cricket Pavilion and at the boulderfield. Bring cash. ADDITIONALLY: *SEVERAL PROBLEMS REQUIRE TOP ROPES. Please bring a harness if you wish to sample some of these. *SHUTTLES back to the Cricket Pavilion will be leaving from the Bus Stop every hour on the hour after 1pm. If no one is at the bus stop on the hour the shuttle will not run. *DINNER will be served at the campground (Cricket Pavillion) between the competition and the awards ceremony. You will receive a free dinner ticket with your registration packet on the day of the event. This will be good for one serving. Any additional serving will be $5 each. *The AWARDS CEREMONY will be immediately after dinner/Tommy and Beth presentation. There will be TONS of door prizes. So stick around for the awards!! You could still win BIG!!! *For preparation and clean-up, the boulderfield will be CLOSED from Monday Oct 27 thru Sunday Nov 2. Little Rock City will reopen again on Monday Nov 3. *NO DOGS ALLOWED at Cricket Pavilion or Little Rock City. Please leave your animals at home. THIS EVENT WILL BE GREAT FUN!! We hope everyone has a safe trip and that you find your visit with us to be a good and memorable one. Keep checking the website for updates- Thanks, Jim Horton and Chad Wykle (The suckers who are putting this together) Jim Horton Chad Wykle Wjhorton3@aol.com chadwykle@yahoo.com

Only a limited number of competitiors are allowed. I think if it is not yet full then you can register that day, but to be safe you should pre-register. See http://www.triplecrownbouldering.org/ for full info.

Get your parents to write down stuff like contact information, doctor's name, insurance, and whatnot, and just hang on to it. That way if something happens (so unlikely it's rediculous) I will actually be able to help. Did you print up the "under 18 waiver" and get your folks to sign it? LRC mgmt. is serious about that. Hmmmm, well as your guardian I can't think of anything else...hahaha. Travis

There will be many, many pads there so you can get by without. But it will be better if you bring a pad. If you don't have one, I have an extra you all can use. It is a bit "experenced", but still worthy. Wes

I cratered onto one from a hideous topout at rocktown. I believe it's a fine pad (if a little pricy). Only 2 more days till I drive to Chatty. I LOVE that city. I just picked up a case of Beast Light at walmart as it was the cheapest beer, and I was paying with quarters. Everyone be sure and find me and grab one. They're pretty gross, and I don't think I"ll be able to drink ALL of mine and Decker's beer like I did at Hound Ears. In fact, I think I'm only going to drink in "moderation" at this comp. I'm still kind of embarased about all of the nonsence at Hound. Hahahaha, who am I kidding, I"m not embarassed and I'll probably do it again. See y'all there! Travis

Yea the "camping" setup was not super condusive to meeting people. We kinda setup and hung out in the parking lot. Mostly with the people we came with. But wow had one of my best comp days ever and got to climb with T. Caldwell and J. Shermen. Great grub and beer after the comp and great film about beth and tommy. LRC rocks!

the top finishers in mens and womens were Matt Bosley and Ana Burgos- the same as at the Hound Ears comp. All the LRC results should be posted this week on the triple crown website. The results of the Hound Ears can be found there as well.

Projects went down! lots of them, some hard some not so hard! Project v9 on the back nine, Traylor or Pittman. A v8 and a v10 project went down. Don't remember who? These were really overgraded. I got a v9 project (Do Dat) on the very front by the cart repair area, I ALMOST got the dragon lady project. (next weekend) Odyssey saw a second assent. I don't know of anymore. great comp though Tons o Fun!

In reply to: I had to have met some of you! the problem is I didn't know anyones real name. I have short(was shaved) brown hair and a long goatee. I was wearing a Wall Crawler Rock Club t-shirt. yeah I think I saw you do that project I walked over there looking for more routes and I saw it.

I think that project was v9, and a couple of people did it. I don't think any v11 projects went. The last time I saw traylor he was throwing his shoes into the woods after giving up on some way overrated v10 project he couldn't get. He couldn't do a couple of the problems he put up, the law,bed wetters.

I don't think I met any of you rc people either. "the_crawler", congrats on so many sends. I haven't met you, but I'd like to see you do the dragon lady project. Do you have any plans of when you'll be back to LRC?
