KrustyKlimber and I (Russman) are planning a "Gig" for the weekend of Oct 25-27. We are planning it for the Frenchman Coulee Climbing area. Lots of routes for beginners (my wife), Intermediate (me) and hard core tradDaddies (Krusty). We have a couple of options...we can plan to camp at the rocks~~hard rocky ground, no water, 1 port-0-let, possibly many other climbers too. OR Bobbi and I can provide our backyard (20 minutes from the rocks). Soft Grass, Climbing gym in garage, plenty of fridge space for BEER. and Flush toilets and a shower if you need it. I will be working on this more with Krusty this week...but we want to hear from all of you out there and hope to see you there. The Russman

Wow how you gonna throw me right up front like that I will definitely be in on this... The home gym covers us no matter what the weather decides, like it's an issue fall is the best time of year here. Frenchmans Coulee is an awesome place to climb, with trad lines in between the basalt columns and sweet sport lines on them... not to spread out not to crowded, and routes at your grade (no matter what it is). We had a hard time deciding where to do this, I think it will be great! Some of us who don't work like dogs should maybe stretch this out a day or two before and after the weekend! Here we GO! GO! GO! Jeff

Sounds WONDERFUL! Marmot and I were just talking last night about wishing there could be another gig a little closer so we could get together with some fellow climbers! And your backyard sounds great. We'll be there, barring any major catastrophe!

I would be interested if my schedule is open that weekend. Is there a place for old trad climbers at Frenchman's Coulee, or will I just end up a belay slave??? [ This Message was edited by: rollingstone on 2002-08-26 15:14 ]

Russ, I'm pretty much open as far as the grass at your house or the rocks at the crags for sleeping. What do you suggest?

Kira, Frenchmans Coulee is just minutes away from Ancient Lakes with it's hiking and fishing, bring Mom and Dad with You! They are more than welcome to be part of the group, the more the merrier! We often go over for just the day, so if nothing else consider that! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help convince Dad! Jeff

Thanks jeff, but my parents have got to be some of the most inactive ppl on the planet, they'd rather sit at home and watch tv any day, also they think its dangerouse to go hang with ppl i havent met in person b4, so when i'm graduated I can just go places whenever and they just wont know i'm hanging out with "strangers"...they just figure anyone online is a bad person or something, I dunno, also I prolly had a better chance of going if I had a licence..lol cant get it till september (stupid graduated licencing), and i'm sure they wont let me drive very far for a couple months...oh well , but thanks for the ideas and the offer! I look foreward to meeting all you guys someday.. ~*Kira*~

I forgot to mention about parking. We need to have vehicles that have the state access pass or else you will get a ticket (camping or jsut parking). So in that respect, we are goign to need to carpool, no matter where we decide to pitch tents. I have one...any one else? We need to figure out how many ppl have them...we can buy them at the Store in George or also at the hardware store in Quincy...but if you already have one that is better. Unless we have a bunch of these...I would reccomend camping at my place (COLD BEER ) And just poolin'it down to the crags each day/evening (depending on the light) Glad to see lots of excitment and ppl planning on beingn there with us. The Russman

I might be able to show up for at least a day. It all depends on my cross country team thing. I'm a total begginer at free(onsighted several .8's and almost did a 10d) but I know the ropes pretty well.

I will definitely be there. Have a great tent so the yard or at the rocks work for me. I am up for car pooling...rocks4jules and coreyr. Oneballjay, all you need to do is come up to Spokane from Pullman and I am sure that you could ride over with someone. Looking forward to climbing over there again Russ.

jhundrup, I have one passenger - still room for two. Corey won't be there until Sat. night, but I'm sure you could catch a ride back if you contact him. Your welcome to ride to with me though (I am returning Sat. night). Anyone else from Cd'A and Spokane are more than welcome to hitch a ride. JULES

Miles, Let me say "Welcome!" first and "I am glad to meet you! And your car! Did you catch that Jake? Young Chonk here has wheels and is leaving from Bothell, your neck of the woods still, or have you moved yet? We should all make a carpool of it! Jeff

Miles, I totally forgot to call you. I have been busy with some stuff(cross country). I might be fishing at some of the lakes over there that weekend also. So I don't know if I would need a ride.
