I think the real problem is that ESPN sucks. Yahoo is the industry standard.

No kidding. The only benefit of espn is that the free leagues put all the players on waivers each week, whereas you only get that in the pay leagues with yahoo. But it's not worth the overall shittiness of espn. It's absurd that the commish even has the option of changing the scoring settings after the draft.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens Coach Brian Billick accused the New York Jets of using an "illegal" ploy to draw Baltimore offside during Sunday's game.

Billick said Monday that the Jets' defense shouted out signals to intentionally throw off the Baltimore offense. Billick claimed the tactic led to the three illegal-procedure penalties against the Ravens.

"They did an outstanding job. I credit the New York Jets. Their defensive line and linebackers did a very, very effective job of illegally simulating the snap count," Billick said. "They did it the whole game long. It needs to be caught."

Ya know, I've revised my opinion. Any team that cheats in football should have their entire season forfeited.

I gotta call you out on that one. An "illegal" act that can be corrected with a penalty (as in a football penalty like 15 yards) is highly different than a sophisticated plot to steal the other teams calls (something that cannot be caught by the refs or result in a football penalty).

Just gotta catch the Bills cheating and all of a sudden Miami's a playoff team.

Ahhh I knew I'd catch someone...

Except that every coach interviewed has said that videoing signals will only help in a second meeting against a team. And even then, only if the team doing the taping is SUCESSFUL in interpreting what they see. Like Herm Edwards said, he used three, sometime four signal callers. He's confident his signals couldn't be stolen even with tape. Lots of "maybe", and "could be's" in that case.

But these illegal stunts cost the Ravens immediately. They had a specific, immediate and quantifiable impact on that game.

Which is worse?

After what your team of cheaters did to SD, it doesn't look like there's much between you and another tainted title except indy.

Hmm, I'd say its apples and oranges. Like someone mentioned, they have a remedy on the field in the form of a penalty.

See, the haters and critics won't admit reason. NEITHER is acceptable. BOTH are cheating. BOTH are a violation of the written rules of the NFL. BOTH potentially affect the outcome of a game. You can rationalize all you want but then you have to allow the Patriots rationalization as well.

Fact is, there is PROOF that the one confirmed incident of taping had NO affect on the outcome of a game. That is fact.
Another fact is that the Ravens were penalized real yardage because of the actions of the Jets. It DID have an effect on the game. That is fact.

You can spout all you want about the other allegations of PATS taping, but only one other, Green Bay, has any proof and Green Bay themselves say it didn't affect them.

But the haters want to hate. And any argument, even a hypocritical one, is fair game.

It's all good. In two years when I drive by Foxboro Stadium the sign out front will have four, maybe five Lombardi Trophies on it and Mangina will have taken his proper place, unemployed, alongside Romeo and Charlie as another example of someone who wasn't as good on his own as everyone thought they were

I agree wholeheartedly. In the interest of justice, I am willing to sacrifice NY's red headed step child team for the entire 2007 season. So it appears that the Jets will forfeit 2007 and the Pats will forfeit 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. I'll go call Donovan McNabb and let him know his ring will be in the mail... oh and the Panthers, how about that! That's gotta be a record! An expansion team winning the super bowl in only a couple of years? Incredible!

Now if only we could do something about those pesky Cowboys...
