I bought a synthetic bag on SAC a while ago, I think it was a Kelty. It was like 30 or 40 bucks. maybe 4 pounds.

I sent it back though, in an effort to save weight or cost, the zipper was only a half zip. I gotta have full zip so I can let the feet breathe when it's warm. no bueno half zip.

I actually picked up a good deal on a bag at that TNF outlet in Berkeley last time I was up there. I like to put on my Patagonia fleece suit and Prana beenie and sleep in style.

PTFTW!!!!

Watch and learn, sweet tits.

There's hope, Tits. Right, NSFW? I remember you beating zekeness for the wekeness when it came to PTFTW. But then you came back with a vengeance. It would make a great ptftw/mBOMZ montage, following NSFW's rise to ptftw glory.

You have no proof of my early wekeness... it's lost in the murky depths of contentless masses. haha!

Yeah, the first couple of bombz were pretty bad too. Although I did like the Apocalypse Now one.

Although, in my defense... I had to learn back when PTFTW actually mattered. Much steeper learning curve, once we came within 5 posts of a PT all hell would break looz.

those were good days.

You should read the TR's of the North Dome Gully descent. Also, you often end up rapping on that descent anyway! FWIW, a lot of people end up saying they much rather would have rapped down. I think rapping CJ would be alright in the light (probably less than 10 raps) and then you could either rap the arches or go for the NDG, depending on you felt.

I don't know, I hear from a lot of folks that NDG isn't so bad, so long as you don't have to onsight it in the dark. People do it with pigs, so it can't be that heinous. It gets done in less than 45 minutes by people who know it.

Well, yeah, but we'd be onsighting it. Linking RA--CJ in a day in winter it would be dark, no doubt about it. I guess hiking up it is a good way to go, so you know the way down afterward.

Here's the plan Eric and I have: Do RA first day (don't have to start at 6am like everybody is always doing); bivy at the top of RA (get fresh water); we will have sleeping bags and Eric has an ultralight tent, so the cold won't be a problem; stash gear near CJ start the next day, where we'd rap back into; then, after the route, we'd either rap RA or maybe do the NDG, depending on daylight left to figure out that path and how we feel about the raps.

We'd be a bit heavy on RA, but I don't anticipate that being the biggest deal. For the slab of CJ, we'd be much lighter.

A tent?!?!?

you guys are out of your minds. That's exactly why you should do it in a day, so you don't have to take all that bullshit and you can just enjoy the climbing.

I live 6 or 7 miles from that outlet (but only a 5 minute walk from Urbian Creek). When did you get that bag? I remember going in there 10 years ago and they had real gear and stuff. Now it's a fashion fleece clearance center. Ugh! My Bro (my real brother) lives in AK and bought some cosmetic defect markdown -40 degree bag, the Inferno. I tried it out for fun in the living room, I was sweating profusely in under a minute.

Hah! how apropos. See zeke? That photo was snapped on the royal arches. i did that when I was a rank noob. My partner was a hot but super annoying chick who had never done a multipitch and did not know how to rappel when we started up, and we pitched out the entire route. I think our ascent took something like 8 hours. With half a brain it could be done in 2, no problem.

actually it might have been less than 8 hours. we started at 8 and were back in C4 by 10:30, but a lot of that was because we rapped on a single line. And the last 10 raps were in the dark. oh well. live, epic, and learn.

Snoop, I like ya, but you are out of your element. Plus, try finding digs in the valley on short notice. I'd rather be up 1400' than amongst the rv's, etc.. What's this pussy, let's get back to camp so we can roast marshmallow mentality you guys are spouting? Zeke done care. Zeke is the mountain. Man. Haha, beer #2, bishes!!!

Next time start at 11 in the morning. Drink a 12 pack. Take a 'nap' from 5-6pm, waking up when friend who's house you are staying at comes home. Walk down to korean food stand, order 20 yakimandu. Walk to corner store. Buy another 12 pack. Walk back to friends house. Drink ten more beers. Fall asleep on couch.

That's how i spent my last day in the army.

Although you lose points for not using a valuable sick day to do something rad like go climbing.

He has a valid point.

Heh. Raise your hand if you were ever stupid enough to use a sick day to go boarding/skiing, and have to try to explain the raccoon face the next day.

*raises hand*

Sniff some pepper and then complain of severe sinusitis the next day at work...

Hey Vegas Kel, I could climb on 1/04/08 if you are available and don't still have a hangover! We could go a tradding or do some sport. Mrs. Zeke agreed shopping, etc. would tide her over as long as I got back to Sin-ville for the evening.

As long as I'm not in thailand with Art, working or no clearance to climb
