I bet those $7.45 copies would still ream him on shipping to China... Instead of ripping it in half, has anyone considered scanning it? I'm not going to do it simply because I dont' think that the book Self Rescue is going to improve a person's climbing abilities. The book is about rescue, not climbing.

In tatooed_climber's defense, he's usually not a jerk -- a little out spoken at times, but this one was a little harsh. For the original poster, please keep in mind that copying or scanning someone's book is a violation of international copyright laws so we don't advocate that avenue. It's entirely possible that you could find someone willing to donate the book you're looking for and others. Some might even be available for download in .pdf format. A book can teach you a few things about knots, anchors, and theory, but experience will give you the best knowledge about how to climb. Ed

I must apologize for my earlier comments, although they certainly were not as harsh as some. Looking at it again I can understand why he would request this book for free. I worked in China for 5 months as an English teacher and one of the students had a parent who was a doctor and she made abouth the US equvilant of $500 a year. I made $800 a month. For all it's economic advances the last few decades China still is sharply diveded economically, with very few controlling most of the money and most living in near poverty. On the plus side though you can get 4 beers for a little more than a dollar. 2 yuan buys 1 beer, 1 beer bottle gets you a 1 yuan refund, thus drink 8 beers you get 4 free. Ok that was of the topic. Mike, PM me your mailing address and I'll get a copy out to you ASAP.

I know it's been stated here quite a few times now, but some you people who responded so insensitively should be ashamed of yourself. Yes, I am your bloody Mother. I am the Mother of Morality. http://rds.yahoo.com/...d/photo-madteen2.jpg "NOW GO TO YOUR ROOM AND THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU'VE DONE!"

As stated earlier, Renohandjams, I am speaking in a language that some will understand. Why use big words when the people you are speaking to may not understand them? That would make your supposed 'intelligence' redundant wouldn't it? Besides, expletives are found in contemporary writing to emphasis sentences. It adds emotion when used correctly. I was very angry when I read those posts and I hope those who read my response felt my anger through the selective use of my words. To a lesser, and possibly a less refined extent TatooedClimbers response is a example of using expletives to emphasis his ignorance and possibly that he was a bigot. You're a wiser (possibly have a higher IQ- hihihi) if you've been able to deduce that he has a low IQ from the fact that he uses two or three expletives in his sentences. The final point I would like to make is, your inference that people who swear alot must have lower IQ's and therefore must be dumber and should be laughed at is sad. It's unfortunate that *you* have taken it upon yourself to judge and assign status to others on their ability to use language. Your arguement indicates that your perception of people is no different to TatooedClimber. That is, that you both judge a person's worth through their ability to use language. My only advice is: Tatooed climber, you should live in a foreign country for awhile - where English is a second language - and you'll gain insight and enlightenment into many things. And Renohandjams, hmmmm...I would suggest you sit down with a person who has Tourette's syndrome and determine if you really want to call someone dumb and judge them. I shake my head at both of you.

Or maybe not, but it's still a lot better then the tone this thread started with. Now GoldenMike has to make a choice.. he has two offers so far :) Anyone else??

Mike, I hope you do not find our web site very unfriendly. I think there was a difficulty to understand your situation. But now it seems people can help. I hope you will continue posting on our site; there are many people here from around the world and we share our passion and ideas about climbing - usually in a very friendly way. For the rest of you mean folks, I remember my first day here in Belgium I was so nervous to speak French just to buy my groceries. Can you imagine how difficult it must be to go into a forum where you don't speak the language and post? Mike had an  emoticon before he even started writing. It's one of the hardest things to try and communicate in a foreign language. I challenge each of you to find a climbing site in French, Italian or another language and just post an introduction! Taz

Thank you to the every one who reply to me,though someone's word hears not so friendly. It dosen't matter because we don't understand each other well. And because of my pool English ,I cann't communicate with you well,so my situation is somehow hard to understand. If you are in China,in my shoes, you will know. I need that book because I have got part of the book,I guess maybe someone can scan it to me,the book is about"rescue",it is very important skill during climbing if I or my partner get chouble during climbing.Yes ,I need a book such as by John Long indeed, but it is not easy to do that, maybe you can get it from web,but I cannot pay,in all,my situation is different from you. Thank you all the same
