I'm up for Seneca..not much on cold weather climbing though. Late Oct. can have some nice sun to warm the day. Sportrocks views just don't cut it compared to 900' of Tuscorora Sandstone!! I,ll be in Franklin Sat. if it dosen't rain. Let's go D.C, MD VA we need more response to this gathering!!

just a friendly question for the MD/VA/DC people out there. speaking of sportrock, what would you guys say is a better place to climb at and for what reason. Earth Treks or Sportrock?

The weekend of the 12th is the Rumney gathering..I'm going up to that. But the weekend after would be cool for me.
Sport Rock vs. Earthtreks...I belong to Sportrock and have climbed at Earthtreks several times. Sportrock has several gyms..so depending on what your looking for you can find it at one of them..the bouldering at ET is not so good in my humble opinion. The sport and TR climbing is very good. Different crowd at ET in general. Mostly twenty somethings at ET, a lot at SR, but also a varied mix of old hippies with kids at SR (like me). SR Sterling, VA is an awsome gym with great bouldering and TR. Rockville has great bouldering and great people. Alexandria is similar to ET.

There are usually a fair amount of people climbing a Sportrock on Thurs and Friday evenings.
All..
How about a Seneca weekend gathering on the 19th/ 20th of Oct.? All in favor say "I" or respond in kind. Or just be there at Yokums Fri. even. at the campsite. We can climb at Seneca Sat. and hop over to Franklin or Nelson on Sun.? Lets here it Capital region..!
Climb it when you can..

I am not sure if we are going to Franklin Sat. if it's raining definetly not. I will let you know before the day is out.

I will go out there Friday afternoon but will not expect to climb unless I get there early. I will probably leave around 4:00 pm fri

We will be at Franklin or Coopers Sat weather permitting. I will let you know by Friday which one. We've been climbing Franklin a lot latley so we may move up to Coopers (whatever the consensous is).

My daughter is fighting a cold but we are going to Franklin on Sat. Weather and health permitting. I hope your daughter will come. I will probably have a half dozen kids with me (of all abilities) and we will go with the sportrock team. We had a dozen (2) weeks ago. She can check out the team and climb with us. We have four or five ropes and tons of draws. There are about five kids who can lead one can lead up to 5.13 Most TR or clean. We try and get there by 10:30-11:00 AM we'll stop in Mean Genes then head up to the crag. I'll be in a copper colored Suburban with a Yakima rack and Mad River stickers on the rear window. Hope to see you both there.

Bummer..He is amazing! His name is Paul Wallace and he is ranked #2 (14-15)USCCA although I thought he won Nationals the Judges did not. At any rate..he's our mule. He puts em up and the rest TR if there lucky. I hope I didn't intimidate your daughter..the majority of the group TR's 5.8-5.10. I think she would have a great time and have plenty to climb. Maybe next time. Have fun at Nelson, I have never been there so I would like to hear about it when you get back.
