You're right, I don't give a rats ass that you climb 11c. Why bring it up in the first place??? Does it lend credibility to your position?

just to add to the list of answers from people who "dont care" or "dont know": I normally only track grades to climb within my limits. I recently saw this really cool line way outside my limit, so I read up on training techniques and searched for shoes suited to a climb this steep and crimpy. It wasn't so I could later say "I climbed 5.whatever", it was so I could say I climbed that sweet line!

You're doing it wrong.

Climbing is about pissing contests -- nothing more, nothing less. This is why climbers drink so much beer (because beer makes you pee).

I just thought I'd let you in on the secret, 'cause I'm cool like that.

and I think I'd have to be climbing a lot harder than I do to expect credibility just because of the grade I climb.
In reply to:
Yes, you finally figured it out. the harder you climb the more credible you are. The older more experienced climbers that don't pull the big numbers therefore have zero crediblitly.

thanks for the info, ive actually learned this while doing my "research". I have since increased my beer intake (I wasn't sure if that was possible at first). But at a successfull 6 pack a day right now I feel I am ready to tackle that pesky 5.4 i'm gunning for!

As long as you are pushing yourself, be it physically or mentally, learning new things, and having fun, then you should be proud of yourself. If you're pushing 5.13, cool. If you're pushing 5.8, also cool. You don't need to compare yourself to others. If this is what rtwillie was trying to say, then I agree.

yea.... guess I kinda fucked that up and came across pretty arrogant. hope everyone had fun today.
