How has it not been asked yet how this guy is teaching a boy scout merit badge class if he can't figure out how to toss a rope bag off a crag? I certainly hope that he has more know-how with things like, say, knots and anchors... hosh.

Just because I was unsuccessful in tossing a rope in a rope bag and having it uncoil smoothly does not mean I don't know what I am doing. For years I have just tossed the rope and had a tarp or rope bag at the bottom and have had no major issue (save for a bush or two) I just thought it would be nice to be able to use the bag to protect the rope from the ground and plants as well as keep the rope together. so please refrain from uneducated criticism, thank you.

Joemac, for me the main point of have a rope bag is so I don't need to coil the rope and to keep th e rope cleaner. Just flake the rope into a pile . It will toss perfect every time.

No, it's definitely you. I have a Black Diamond Superslacker Rope Bag and a 10.2 x 60mm Mammut bicolor rope combo that I have NEVER had an issue with. In fact, I had that crap out this weekend and after climbing my son put the rope back in the bag and carried it to the car with no instruction from me. I think he stacked it, not coiled and put it in, but I believe that last trip out he coiled and put it in. This time he tied one end on the loop, stacked the rope then tied off the last loose end and wrapped it all up snug as a bug in a rug. I watched this happen right in front of me. I rarely toss it off a cliff, but it fits fine and feeds OK when I need it too. If I guaranteed have to have it feed perfect in those occasions (say rapping an overhang with the ropebag clipped to me so that a loose rock won't pulverize it laying on the ground underneath), I'll tie off an end, zip it part of the way up and feed the rope into the bag, keep the last end handy and zip it up. Never had an issue. Ever. It's you. Fo' sho' bra.
