I forgot to tell you happy bday on sunday. I'd say we all had a great day. The weather was nice and the rock was dry. Saw alot of ppl sunday at lisbon from the site. I'm ready for some coopers, seneca, or nrg. Then I have surgery tuesday after Easter. Doc says I shouldn't miss any climbing. Good to see all you folks, maybe we should switch belayers once in awhile, just to climb with different ppl.

In reply to: Good to see all you folks, maybe we should switch belayers once in awhile, just to climb with different ppl. good point. While we have been to the same climbing spots a couple of times, I don't really feel I have "CLIMBED" with you yet. :) I did have a good day. I am looking at the weather. I have found and collected a couple of guidebooks for the bouldering at Coopers. I have also never been bouldering. (That is to say, go bouldering with out also roped climbing the same day and place.) I am hoping to head down to coopers for a day of good quality bouldering. However, if there are 2 sunny days, I would like to head down to NRG or Seneca. Let's see what happens with the weather this coming weekend. Right now I am seeing a chance of rain on Saturday.

I am planning on hitting up Cooper's on Saturday starting around noon. Sunday I plan on going to Breakneck. Hope some others can join me. I am particularly excited about coopers because I will get to try some 'real' bouldering.

I went to lisbon again today. How was coopers Dan. For some this is a three day weekend. I have friday off and would like to go to seneca if the weather is ok. Anyone else interested? We could try for a group at snowbird.

Friday off? I can't make that. I might be able to come down for Saturday and Sunday though. I am kind of afraid. I have a sneaking suspicion that I will have a forced rest weekend. I hear rumors of all kinds of Easter events going on. You didn't mention it, but I hope you had a good day at Lisbon. Is anyone interested in going to the Mill on a weeknight? There is more light lately. Coopers was great. It had rained all morning, but the friction there is so good. The wetness did not bother me. I worked a couple of boulder problems. I had fun, but I enjoy routes more. The most satisfying problem was an overhanging hand jam crack. I never 'completed' it, but I got really far. I was quite happy with my improved jamming capabilities. I will have to continue to work it in the future. Sunday at Breakneck was also a very profitable day. I eventually worked up to lead the 5.9 that was scaring me previously. My friends wanted to practice their photography skills. Jim (Kubi) was belayed on top rope on the next route. Steve was taking pictures from the ground. I felt more pressure because of it. I was glad I got the lead done though. There were a few other climbs that I did, but overall it just felt like a good day. Sometimes, even if you don't climb hard it just feels good to succeed. Victor, did you make it to the New? How was your climbing?

I now live about 15 minutes from the Mill, so I will definitely be there weeknights. Let me know if you want to hook up on a specific night.

In reply to: My friends wanted to practice their photography skills. it didn't do much good, my pictures still sucked. In my defense, though, it was a rough situation to be taking pictures in, dark, shadowy rock and bright sunlit backgrounds. I did as best I could, though. Here's the best one, I think. http://i1.tinypic.com/v5lso1.jpg

Went to the Mills last night, worked Birthday Boulder for an hour before it got dark. So close, but yet so far away. A couple more attempts and it is mine. I think I would rather not be around when the explorers club is there. It would just be too crowded for me.

Good job on the bouldering. How long have you been working the Birthday Boulder? I also will probably look to avoid the crowded nights. Lot's of people are fine, but it limits how often you can get on the rock. I won't be making it out to the mill. I am retarded. My last 2 classes ever required are 4:30-6:30 every Monday-Thursday. So, if I leave here at 6:30, then I still won't have more than an hour of climbing. I will have to wait until this semester is over before I start planning evening trips to the Mill. I can't wait until the end of this semester. I may take another class or two, but it will only be out of my own interests.

I started working Birthday Boulder 5 years ago when I started climbing. I never really worked it seriously though. Now that I moved back to this side of the state after 2 years in Bethlehem, I've been working on it rather consistently at least one day a week. I'd much rather be climbing trad or sport routes, but climbing is climbing so I'll take whatever I can get.

I went to the Banff Film Festival last night. Was anyone else there? I had a good time. The movies were all pretty interesting. I saw a bunch of people I climb with in the gym. I will be there again tonight. By now Bill is trying to dodge between the raindrops. It says 70% chance of rain in Seneca. Hopefully he found a dry area to climb at. Despite it raining, I am jealous I am not out there too.

Don't be jealous. Seneca in the rain is a mournful place to be.

A friend lost a black rope bag with webbing inside to set up topropes. He lost this at logtown within the last month or so. There may have been a small robot cam too. If anyone found this or know who may have let me know.

just got back from 7 days in Red Rocks/J-Tree. Had a BLAST. Climbed with another ECP buddy (Terry) and stayed with former ECP member Bill Hobbins. He has a great place to crash, and will open his doors to fellow Pittsburgher's. and he's only 10 minutes from the entrance to RR canyon! climbed panty wall and black corridor crags at RR (sport 5.7 - 5.9+) and the Thin Wall at J-Tree (TR-ing). practiced placing pro at JT on some 5.6 -5.7's (on TR), and led one of the routes with pre-placed pro. great experience. last day we trad climbed with Bill and his friend on Solar Slab Gully (5.3/ 5.4ish), stretching a couple of pitches long to make it a 4 pitch climb (normally a 5 pitch climb). we climbed as two separate teams, but followed each other closely. i led the 1st and 3rd pitch, Terry led the 2nd and 4th. built our own anchors. now i'm totally psyched on trad. the Solar Slab climb was the icing on the cake. we couldn't have asked for a better climbing trip. seneca anyone?!!!!!!! :) cheers, victor

that does sound like a great trip!!! Glad everything worked out for you. Soon enough we will be heading out. It would be good if you came along. For some reason or other, I haven't been able to get a full weekend climbing trip recently. I hope to remedy this soon. Dan

Pawn my wedding ring?! sell the kids???!!! seriously though, i think by the middle/end of summer i should have a working rack to play with. victor

Some of you may have seen this, but I thought I should post it anyway: http://www.seneca-rocks.com/website/article.asp?id=441 It's about the Cinco de Mayo party at Seneca on May 6th. Assuming the weather isn't horrible, I think this would be a blast.
