In reply to: Ummm.... Link Cams? I've got doval draws and love them... Got a buddy with a pair of Links...says the grit likes to make its way into the link hinges as much as any other part of a cam, making for more maitenance. But they do let him carry fewer pieces on some climbs and will protect certain places where nothing else will really get the job done. I'd still rather have an assortment of camalots myself...I like to place often :)

I saw that one going through random photos. I didn't do anything with it cause I had already done my mean deed for the day. I always new slacklining was a rouge activity, I never thought it could be linked to terrorists though.

He he, its a PNCiner. In Case anyone doesn't know what that is, its a fake biner from a bank, PNC bank. HA HA, It's got about 1kN rating. Not so good for climbing, but good for accessories. I'm poor and my wife works for PNC and gets tons of them for free.
In reply to: In reply to: In reply to: How about this one? Dude looks like he is about two feet off the ground on a boulder problem. I can't tell if he has his belay device on an accessory biner or just a tiny non-locker. It looks like a JC Wiregate by Omega Pacific. I steer clear of them - too small and fiddly, and only 21kN closed gate strength on the major axis. Could be an Omega. I guess I would put all Omega biners in the toy biner catagory, but that's just me. thespider, what's up with the little blue biner?     :D

Now that we know it IS a toy biner, what is your belay device doing on it? A belay device is not just another accessory.

It really makes you wonder doesn't it? First, what was this person thinking when they sumited it. Second, why would the powers that be approve it when it is nothing more than a waste of space. Unless I missed something. Holy CRAP!!! are those bigfoots?

In reply to: Second, why would the powers that be approve it when it is nothing more than a waste of space. Unless I missed something. Because we are required to approve any and all photos posted, whether they have any artistic merit or not, so long as they're submitted in the correct category. I've had people submit entire rolls of film of himself and his buddies just goofing around in the campsite. Whatever. It's worth it for the real gems people submit all the time. That's why I'm proud to be one of the photomods. To be frank, there's nothing this site does that another climbing site doesn't do better, as the users of those other sites will rub into our noses at every opportunity. With one grudgingly but universally acknowledged exception: the photos. The photos here are simply the best collection of climbing pics on the web. I'd put the best of rc.com's pics up against the collection of any individual professional photographer with a portfolio of climbing pics online, any day of the week. How cool is that? With those seams of gold come lots "other" pics. Like all the junky pics I've posted, LOL! Hey, everything in this universe comes on a spectrum. The bigger the collection, the further the edges of the bell curve, and the larger the number at the extremes of the bell curve. So vive les differerances! Let's celebrate the amazingly good and stupendously bad pics that rc.com has to offer! GO

Here's another one from the Spider. This time it's his buddy, but notice the same type of toy biner being used to rack the belay device that already has a locker on it. WTF DUDE THERE'S A LOCKER ON THE BELAY DEVICE...clip locker to gear loop, then you won't need a useless little toy biner!!!!1111 WTF!! DUDE!! W>T>F>!!!!!!!!!! http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=78742

In reply to: In reply to: ^^^^more rock, less talk, b---- mod parent up. okokok, there's nicer ways for me to have said "hey, let's keep the focus on the pics and not let this degenerate into an equipment/technique thread" but "parent up"? I thought laughy the laughing emoticon suitably denoted my jesting tone. oh yeah, you're a vegan  btw, I have a doozy of me in pictorial form I will finally post.

But then you might wonder... why is he carrying one ascender? Guess he's one of those minimalists you hear about. Core.

In reply to: Actually, there is an ascender connected to the locking biner, and the loop from the ascender is on the toy biner. If you actually look at the picture you can see that. Is it an ascender? Maybe it is grigri? Belay your partner with a grigri and rappel with the atc, yeah, can't do both with the atc, no, if petzl makes gigantic heavy expensive gear we must use it...

Finally found a server for that child p*rnography site I've been wanting to put up!! p.s. that was a joke!! p.p.s. I know it is obvious that it is a joke, but we can't assume risks on maters like that

He is carrying one ascender because thats all that was left at the bottom of the route. He is taking it to the top and giving it to one of our other partners. And what are you talking about on back up knot brent_e? anykineclimb was also was trying to figure out what was wrong with my backed up knot. His has no back up. So I guess it's wrong both ways, backed up or not? So strange and hard to follow, these climbing rules are.

Once should have a backup! i hope you weren't belaying palms up.
