Mine was something like that up until a few months ago when it completely shit on its self. Sucks, and here's to hoping it makes it. Eventually, it wasn't a power failure that kicked it, it was a complete hard drive crash. I still need to get around to rebuilding it and may put linux on it until I can dig the windows crap out of storage. Good luck and have fun with the desktop. I found a replacement laptop for $450 at best buy.

That is interesting, but more so because of the politics involved. There's been several published cases of sustained bridge to transplant using commercially/clinically available pumps designed for ventricular support of cardiopulmonary bypass. But Bud is a major celebrity in the field, so if he does it the press will report. He's a big gruff Texan stereotype. He referred to our VP of R&D, who is Sri Lankan, as 'the little Mexican guy'. We went to a convention where he was presenting and he went into the bathroom without turning off his mic. He got half way through a dirty joke, with pissing in the background, before they cut the sound.

Lap tops are so cheap now, as long as you're not looking so something high powered. At least you still have your ipad? yeah. in the interests of not choking on our cc bill two months in a row, (between car stuff and plane tickets, our cc bill this month is literally twice what it normally is), I will try and hold out till at least the end of the summer when the other half is working again. and if that means I'm on the ipad for my at home browsing needs..... not ideal, but there are worse things. I hope you have a rewards card! Once I get enough for my free ticket, I'm dumping my current miles card and we're going to do a 'family' card. I get nervous cancelling credit cards because I never did find a clear answer on what it does to your credit rating (which I'm hyper aware of as we get closer to being ready to buy a house), but I feel like I'm better off cancelling cards with no rewards and shitty interest. Oh, and my David's Bridal card. Hopefully won't need that again. Canceling a card that's fully paid off shouldn't be too bad, and probably won't affect your score at all. I got my CC numbers stolen in Sydney and they had to cancel it, while they sent me a new one (set it to Aus too... awesome bank!). Ended up lowering my score by about 10 points or so and they also put out credit warnings to most institutions tapped into the "network". I did a lot of research on credit scores previous to buying my house. Basically, the answer is that it *may* hurt your score to cancel a card. One of the major components to your score is how much credit availability you have. In other words, how much are people willing to loan to you. If you have a CC with a $10k limit, that's 10k of available credit. Cancel it, and your available limit drops. Another separate component is your credit availability to debt ratio. So if you have $500 in outstanding debt, the more credit availability you have, the less impact your outstanding debt has on that number. Of course if you have a mortgage for $300k a cc more or less won't make any difference in either of the above numbers. HTH, GO
