I heard the corny locker room saying at the gym the other day, "Pain is weakness leaving the body!" and couldn't help but laugh.

The most important thing is to have fun. Although this is my slogan, it didn't always seem to fit. However upon further reflection I realized that some of the climbing I do is for future fun. For example, I'm not very good at cracks, so I'm spending one night a week in the gym concentrating on cracks. I can't say it's a lot of fun flailing, but it is fun when I do notice progress. So although my fun may not be immediate, it's my main goal. Tony

In reply to: For alpine: "A woman's place is on top" For rock: "A woman's place is on the face" For partners: "It's not about how many 5.11 climbs you lead, rather how many 5.11 lead climbers you lay" hmm, must learn to lead 5.11

Three slogans... First Slogan: You first need to understand the background story to get the humor... I was doing my first solo of a 5.6 when I got stuck and wanted the fire department to save me. I froze with my mind full of images of my death. I whined, cried and shook wanting help... A guy saw me and tried to encourage me by calling out; "be a man..." Since I am a "girl"/b], this made me laugh so hard that I had to finnish the climb. "Be a man" became my slogan for the next two years that both my partner and I yelled out fequantly when I was challenged. Second Slogan: "Piece of Cake." ( Somehow if I say this enough when I am scared, the climb becomes a "piece of cake.") Third Slogan: "Go Big or Go Home." All I need to say is; Yosemite Big Wall Climbing..." Yes, I also use to do the "Fuuuck Mmmmeee" scream; but too many people looked hopeful...

I was wondering if anyone was going to comment on those... i must add this though: for me, these are just fun slogans, not serious mantras.

heximp - love it! i will remember you're "be a man" story and use it to replace my current "suck it up cupcake". yeah - glad you dumped the f*ck mmeeeeee" scream. It's trashy and pollutes the air.

I agree that it sounds trashy. I was in a stage of rebellion against my proper upbringing... I use to like trashy for it felt so refreshing... I guess it is all part of growing up and getting a few bad habits to break... I sometimes still slip up and get out a "fudge me!" You should see the look my partner gives me... He started bringing fudge to the crags...

It's got to be either 'young, dumb and full of cum' or 'grip it and rip it, that's just how I live my life.'
