I expect to make it this year also. As the time gets nearer and I'm sure of it, I'll probably offer to pick people up at DIA so they might be able to save some money instead of flying to Montrose. It's pretty warm here, I should go hit some high ice soon before it's gone.

It's not like I can't afford it, but there's a limit to what I want to pay to be held hostage in a tin can. And I don't trust the airlines not to cut corners a little too deeply for safety now that times are so tight. Flying is such a PITA. Kathy

Assuming I'm still in the Front Range when it rolls around, I'll be more than happy to give some folks a ride from DIA. (I say "assuming" because of a remote chance I'll get a sweet job offer in Corvallis, OR. In which case I don't know how I'll get there. But I'll get there.) Oh, and Ron, don't forget to bring sparklers for the NYE celebration. Not sure where you could hide them, though.

No doubt its a huge PITA now. was supposed to go to Hawaii to visit family but with prices liek they are, no way. I'll definetely be looking for car poolers to help with gas.

Redpointron and Reno, Great to hear from you guys. Chris and I are working on the budget for the next 12 months....Ouray hasnt gotten the boot yet! who can resist the idea of watching Ron pop open a bottle of champange at Orvis? I know he said that's his New Year's plan, but I'm sure we can talk him into a repeat performance. PS, Reno, congrats on the job and good luck on the next one!!

Hey everyone, I know you're trying to figure out how to pay for the flight for you and your partner. I'm 95% sure I just got two flights for less than $200. I figured I'd share this. I just signed up with Citi for one of their points cards. There's a $75 annual fee, but it comes with 20,000 points if you can charge $600 in the first three months. It takes 20,000pts to redeem a flight (up to $400 in value) and you get 1 point per $ spent, and 2 pts/$ spent is some categories...I think gas and groceries were included, but I dont remember. The best part is that, companion tickets are free...you only have to pay the taxes and surcharges, plus you have to go through Spirit I think. I talked to a half dozen people to make sure I understood everything before I went ahead with it. There is no restrictions to the airline, but you do have to have a Saturday night stay in your reservations. Hopefully this isnt some scam, but I thought I'd share so you can get yourself out there too. https://www.citicards.com/cards/wv/cardDetail.do?screenID=901&origincontentId=CC_TRAVEL_REWARDS&CONTENT_TYPE=card_category_detail. Hope you can get it now and have everything lined up for your free ticket out. See ya in January! Wow, I feel like an ad that's too good to be true...too bad I dont get credit for signing people up (haha)

I'm definitely going to be in the area, but I think classes at school may start for the new term the week before the actual festival. My boyfriend is from telluride, and his parents are paying for us to come out for new years and a few weeks after (whooo!) Anyone in for a pre-festival festival? or the "festival of Mo"?

So, there's no backing out now. My flights are booked...You're going to have to deal with me!!! I'm only around till saturday afternoon though, my flight home is out of grand junction ass early sunday morning. Still, I can start the party as early as possible, I'll be in Telluride starting the 31st so if any one wants a ski/climb buddy (heh, even a hotsprings buddy) I"m there!!! I've started playing Edward 40-Hands by myself to get my tolerance up. Watch out.

I want to go! too bad I just had shoulder surgery. I hope that I am healed up enough to actually climb this year instead of just getting drunk.
