Yea, I've been really lazy as of late, and I havent really got a partner yet up here in Duluth. But the stuff I have climbed is amazing, Palisade, Elys and then the gehto inner city bouldering. But once winter starts, which is gonna happen quick up here, I'll climb alot more at VE hopefully. So if anyone is up here let me know, I'll climb wiht you if I can. :D

I plan on climbing for sure on Sat. and maybe on Sunday. I want to catch the vikings game at noon, I suppose I could climb a bit in the morning and catch it at the local bar. I think I'll camp at wildwoods, is anyone else up for it?

Sure, the Vikings win three games, and you are all over the bandwagon... Sad. I don't know if I am up for camping, but I am definately up for some climbing on Saturday...

Hey el_capitan, I've camped at waub-o-jeeg, its just north of Taylors and it was ok. I am partial to the State Parks, though, and was at William O'Brien a few months ago. It's a nice park. http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/map.html Happy climbing.

Les and Dann, Are you guys heading down to Barns on Friday? If so, do you usually hang out there all day? I am working 2:00am - 9:00am (ish) on Friday morning and was planning on heading down - assuming that someone will be there and it's not raining. Just let me know... Craig

DANGEROUS LOOSE BLOCK-TAYLORS FALLS There is a dangerous loose block on the north side of the top of The Column. It is suitcase-sized and this spring it slid down away from the huge block at the top of The Column. It might seem solid but it definitely isn't. Don't use it as an anchor! If somebody else is using it immediately inform them of the danger and get the sling off of it! I've seen it used each time I've been up there this summer (I figured it would be gone by now). The park staff will inspect it tomorrow (9/25) so maybe it will be gone soon. Until then, it's a killer so make sure that nobody uses it! If it falls it will paste anyone at the top of the Bulge or in the Bulge approach gully. I'll put this on the guidebook web page as well. MAF http://www.hamline.edu/...ris/guide/index.html

In reply to: There is a dangerous loose block on the north side of the top of The Column. It is suitcase-sized... Is that the North side? Climbers left (The Bulge side) of the monster boulder atop The Column? I can vouch for that rock. Around Memorial Day there was a piece of pro stuck in a solid crack just below that loose rock. As I grabbed and pulled on the loose piece (not knowing it was unstable) it moved! Like an inch or two! Scared the $h!t outta me as I was directly in its path. We tried to move the rock back into place but it wouldn't budge. That's pretty sketchy as the rock's fall line goes right down the approach gully.
