Feel free to flame me for the shiny-ness of it. Been getting pieces for about the last 6 months but haven't had a partner. Working on that. Camp Nano23s for racking and gear side loop. Met. Infernos for rope side of slings. Don't know the weight. Feels like 10 lbs. ish.

1 - wow, that's a hell of a lot of tricams. I climbed in the Gunks, and only ever carried one each pink red brown! 2 - What's up with the way you're slinging your hexes? Looks like you'd wear through the slings mighty fast. 3 - Suprised at how many one foot and four foot slings and how few two foot ones you have. But that's a judgement call. I think the hexes are just done like that to shorten them up for racking. I assume he's un-girthing them when he places em. Better option is sliding the hex up the sling to the desired length and letting it hang there.

Tipton is right on shortening the hexes although I like the suggestion he provided to move them up the sling. It sounds easier that un doing a girth hitch while placing. have to try it out i reckon Got 4 2-foot slings made into trad. draws. Up top next to the C4s. 4 10 inch slings, 2 four foot slings. 4 8 inch dog bones. planning on getting a few more 2 footers here soon. The tricams are the result of CAMP saying that they don't keep backorders (the dyneema set was the original backordered set), me ordering the nylon group, then CAMP sending the dyneema. I've read that a lot of people like having 2 sets so i didn't bother sending the nylon set back. edited to ask: Roberto, pardon the noob question (my first time posting an image) what is an image tag? does that make it appear in the post so you don't have to click the link?

Yeah, on second thought, it's really not a bad setup, if it works for you. Probably a bit lighter than carrying more 2'ers. I'm reminded of this one guy I've climbed with once or twice. I think he's from WA, and he even used to post here occasionally. Anyway, he climbs with 20 four foot slings. On every climb. Plus another 10 regular 2'ers. I shit you not. Cheers, GO

Mind you, I only really carry one hex anymore, but that's neither here nor there. I've tried this. It works fine, but if I do it my way, I can stagger the height of each hex on the sling so they don't bang together. That's right, no more cowbell.

so, i have built up my rack over the winter, trying to spread out the cost, and this is what i have gathered so far. Why does a guy who is just starting trad have hooks? Because i have taken the advice of RC.com (gasp!) and learned to place my protection solo aid style. I still need to find a number 7 and 8 WC hex to fill out the set. Yes, i dont have cams, but that is for two reasons, 1) i just want to be a badass and go passive 2) i climb in the "great canadian chossies" and from my (extensive) research, i have gathered that cams don't sit to well in shattered limestone, and Yamnuska eats hexes/tricams like chinese people eat rice.
