She haz a poyte.

FWIW, it's colder up here. -18C, tomorrow a high of -9C. But again, it's not like you're going anywhere anyway. Pretty much all the roads are closed to the North and to the West of town. You can still escape South right now though.

Just checked. I guess 12F is colder than -9C. But Weather.com is telling me that Cleveland is also supposed to be -9C.

12F is colder than -9C, so tomorrow we have you beat. But today, yeah, you get the trophy (and welcome to it!)

I hate Farenheits, it was harder to transition to, for me, than pounds vs kg.

I was wondering if the schools were going to be closed today, but they were open. After-school activities might be cancelled though. Not yet... I keep waiting for an E-mail. I have no idea what the windchill is, but it was miserable walking my 0.7 miles to work in the ind tunnel.

Yeah, because it clearly makes sense to have 180 degrees between two tangible factors at sea level.
One hundred and eighty.
Yup.

Oh, and btw, freezing is somehow 32. Which, despite working on a doctorate, I still don't understand. And I have read War and Peace and had some sort of comments aside from quote what a long book end afterward.

Growing up with metric system and then going to F's and Lb's and inches was like growing up in a modern world and then going back to pit toilets and and using leaves to wipe.

You think F vs C conversion it tough, just wait until you try to convert psi into pascal.

For Europe? On the 21st.

Did you get your hat yet? Nathan finally mailed everything off last week. It's showing up at your BC address.

And yeah, I was sleep deprived, lightly hungover, and wrecked from the whole the hole day. Then went and climbed two more days in NoiZ.

Back east now. Switched out the Pius; I'm done with that hippy mobile after bivying in -10 f temps last night at a KY rest stop, then waking up to a dead battery. Back in mah taco now and en route with the lady friend for the Daks. Beware, Ice Tawk may commence. But prolly not.

Happy Knew Year gerks!

Last night we had confirmed what I already knew, which is that staying up late while drinking is completely impossible for me.

Went to see The Imitation Game with camhead and Kel. (She totally cried... so did I. Ed admitted to possibly slightly tearing up, too)

And then we hung out, ate pizza, and played Cards Against Humanity. (I won, nobody carez)

Camhead stayed semi-sober, since he needed to pick up GF from airport close to midnight. And Ed and I bailed at 11-ish and decided that we celebrated teh arbitrary day on the calendar by Cleveland time, and it was past our bedtime.

The weird thing is, we were sleeping in this morning, as normal people should... and then a text comes from camhead, all bright and chipper, they are ready to head out at 7 freaking 40. They are doing multipitch nature hikes. Possibly in the snow. Though camhead swore it was sunny and warm out.

We'll find out soon enough.

That's AWL.

daze are short. 7:40 isn't really that early.

I would agree with you on a normal winter day, but...

After staying up late drinking for the New Year's Eve? After picking up GF from the airport at 11:30, and seeing his GF for the first time in 4+ weeks?

Heck yeah, 7:40a.m. is early.

maybe they wuntzed to climb a long rowt.

They did. I guess we place different value on long rowtz vs long (boring redacted). Not even married yet, the redacted shouldn't be boring?

False dichotomy.

yeah, it seems to assume sleep is a constant.

camhead doesn't need his beauty sleep?

I guess not? The saturday night he was here, we were up drinking until 12:30 or 1, then he got up at 6 to go climb with jak at teh slightly overhanging slabby area. Though I don't know how that went, other than a comment from jak about camhead going for a nice winger on teh Hanging by a Sartin.

That was an awesome almost-onsight!

ICE TAWK!!!1

Teh clamhed wuz brilliant at teh slightly overhanging slabby area...

Cept fer that won brief moment.

Course, it's easy to be brilliant at the slightly overhanging slabby area.

Still, teh clamhed redsighted Trophy, Flesh, Rapter, Leviathan... pretty much back to back and a then a spin on teh Hanging before he had to head oft to brokeback mt. with Trashy.

That slightly overhanging slab area was the only day in the last month that I've been warm.

Did I tell you guys that I booked my plane ticket to Europe? I tacked on a couple of extra days so I'll be competing in Switzerland, Italy and France now.

Climbed only one day this weekend. My ankle is so fucked. Fortunatly IWC is all overhanging stuff so hopefully it won't be too bad, but I'm definitely more limited than I was originally letting myself believe.

I saw that... and I saw that chossy just left for Korea? You globe-trotting couple, you!
I hope your ankle feels better by then. Are you doing anything for it, other than making it hurt by climbing? Angelic

Ed's ankle seems to be taking a lot longer than he was lead to believe (or that he talked himself into believing), too.
He is climbing O.K., and seems to have improved quite a bit in the two weeks of the trip. But the major part of improvement was that he figured exactly how to wrap/tape it for the hike. Even so, he was limping at the end of the day on most days, and didn't feel up to dancing in the evening. So I dragged my swingity-swing shoes all the way to Vegas... in vain.

Oh, and in other gnus, Ed attempted to teach camhead's GF how to swing dance. She was a quick study. But camhead was not amused. Even though he played some really good swingity dance music to go with the fajitas one night.

No comment. Ed kept telling me I had to learn to dance, and I tried to just give him the grumpy cat "no" look.

No. Cool

We've lost a lot of good climbers to dancing.

Assuming a lot is nonzero.

Marning yinz. Still snowing here. Day 6.

I'm all packed up to head back to St. Catharines tonight, but whether I do or not will all depend on weather and road closures. Supposed to get less snowy tomorrow.
