My issue is NOT with the team of moderators previously in place on this site, but with the actions of the new owners. The rest of the mods have all been quite supportive and kind to me, and I have nothing at all against them. They're doing a great job, they are simply stuck in an awkward position, that being the inability to speak out against the administration in public, which is entirely reasonable and understandable, or even in the private of the moderators forum.

John, i'm going to have to respectfully disagree. Never have i felt stifled in speaking my mind in the mods and editors forum or in public. Some of us choose, like myself, to stay out of a public battle.

If you don't believe that there is a "right" and a "wrong" aspect to what has been going on here, I hardly think that asking you to take sides would make any sense.

True, and I respect that completely, however I would like to present that the reason you do not feel stifled is that you chose to stay out of the issue, and therefore you did not present a view contrary to that of the owners. They're not likely to fire you for keeping to yourself. Wink

Whatever my position may be...............as you are not privy to any pms i have exchanged with the owners or opinions I have expressed since you have left the mods forum........I have never felt restrained. It has been that way since i became a mod and it has never changed.
Believe what you will. I'm not about to stop speaking my mind.. I have reached a point in my life, especially at my age, that i don't need to censor myself.

To seperate corners... Both of you are 'stand-up' people, and really should be as civil as possible to each other.

I implore you two just agree to 'disagree'and leave it at that.

Now see what you've done ??? You have me 'acting' as if I were a Mod.Tongue

lol, I'm sorry if I came across as antagonistic, I totally don't mean to be. Wink Marge is, as you say, a stand-up gal. And she does have a point, I didn't see anything that went on behind the scenes, I only saw the public thread in the mods forum. I do appologize for any misunderstanding.

I believe that all parties truly think they're in the right and justified in whatever actions they've taken. This fact will probably remain the same, no matter how many PMs go public and no matter how many times people post their side of the story. That's how these things work and that's enough for me. My respect for each of them remains undiminished. I know you and Hillary go pretty far back -- far further than she and I, hell I've never even SEEN her -- so I certainly understand your desire to stand with her. Thank you for understanding my position in return.

I predict most of the current mods and admins will be gone within 12 months, replaced by those more amenable to the New Regime.

The sad thing about volunteers is that they are expendable. I am neutral on the issue, and it is sad to see what has happened. I would only hope that the situation improves to a point where trust can be re-established. I sense that there is a huge loss of trust site-wide.

Adam,

I've been lurking on this site for many years. I've never posted but use the Routes db and enjoy reading the forums. I like many people here know that you're slightly blinded by your own sense of self importance so I hope this post will help you get some perspective. Your posts over the last week have reached new depths.

You keep reminding us all how you used to be an owner. Of course you were, and RC.com almost died under your leadership. You didn't make it work, and now suddenly you seem to know how everything should be done. What's worse is that you don't have the class to shut-up and get out of the way now that others who are willing to do the job and take the risks have taken over.

I don't see the other previous owners on here bitching, moaning, throwing public tantrums and using every opportunity to stick it to the new guys. I guess they chose to close their chapters with dignity. Obviously not something you understand or aspire to.

You've been making post after post questioning this sangiro's integrity. Clicking on your username and looking at your recent posts reads like a book of malicious attempts to bring the new owners into disrepute with absolutely no basis in reality.

Did you actually go over to dropzone.com, find a post by this guy where he thanks people for giving him a bit of a laugh and bring it in here as some proof that he's evil? Are you kidding me!?

You're out here taking every opportunity to bash this guy who as far as I can tell have never taken a shot at you in public, and you want to convince us that he has no integrity while it's pretty clear that you have no idea what the word means.

Don't you have friends to tell you you're coming across like and ass? At this point it's just plain sad and starting to look a little pathetic. Let it go buddy. You've had your chance. There's a huge silent majority on here who are quietly shaking their heads wondering what the hell you're on about. You should know that most of us see your posts exactly for what they are. Without class and without merit.

- Josh

Actually I stopped being a 'leader' in any way on this site over 2 years ago, and it was for the best, as I stepped in shit quite a bit.

Funny all these 'non-active, been lurking for years' or dizzy.com users ripping on me, and others within this thread, defending their "HH"... Remind you of anyone's little minions or tools ???

----->Pass The Parachutes Please<-----

Here's a hint... If you have no clue what that means, then you really have no clue about this site, thus you oppinion is crap. And your replies only make you look like a tool and a suck-up.

Have I been an ass ??? Yep, big time. But we're not talking about me, and the fact that I have been an ass does not discount what I am saying. I'm sorry if it appears that I am 'spraying' about being a previous owner, and that was basically in title only, as I probably didn't own more than 5%... The reason why I've referenced it (3 times now, in over 100 posts/replies) is that it is relevant only in that I was privy to the workings of this site, and who did what, and its history... Fact is, its just an easy thing to rip on me for in an attempt to discredit ME, instead of discreditting what I'm saying.

In reply to:
So who thinks we have entered a countdown to this site imploading? What the over/under date?

Honestly... I don't think it'll implode at all. I think it'll end up like http://dropzone.com, hell even the 'non logos' are the same... Look at that page, as it only a different color and some things have been moved around. Even the "Rules" here now are just a copy and paste from that site.

I think the 'tangable content', the actual value to us as climbers: Routes Databse, Photo Galery, Articles, Gear Reviews, even the Details within the Forums will not be at the same level it was, its not even close right now due to the migration, but they are trying to at least make it usable to some degree.

What will happen, is that the forums with valuable info will start to fade, in favor of Community, just as on DZ.com it makes up for almost 59% of the total posts (2.5 million site total / almost 1.5 million in Community), where as here its about 20%... Point... The content is more valuable here than just talking BS, or at least it was. Community was even a hidden Forum here, but now its open to even guest... Hell, it was at the bottom, and reffered to as "Scummunity" before, now its prominantly featured at the very top. Why ???

Because what really counts in the end of the day is "page views", as that's what is shown to advertisers, and who cares what generates page views as the total is what counts. On the old site, we could "mouse hover" to get to almost anywhere we wanted to go with just one click, now, it takes several, but then each one adds to the total. Also, on the old site, I believe that page views were only counted once per page per login session, thus going to the same page over and over still counted as 'one page view'... I beleive now, each click adds one page view.

I think eventually many of those who have contributed so much will leave and frequent other sites, and that the majority of what are left here are users who are "willing to play nice in the Community Forum", as that's basically what over 50% of the forum traffic is over at dizzy.com.

So nope... I don't think it will implode... I just think it will change, very much from what we were used to in terms of community (the users) and information (what was of value).

I think that maybe in 5 years when maybe they buy a kayaking site or something, all the eunichs that will then be the bulk of the site then will go over to the new one and defend their HH from the denizens (just like here, in this thread) that are trying to mantain their history, heratige, and tangable contributions from basically becoming a strictly moderated AOL chat that generates lots of "Page Views".

"You will be asimilated... Resistance is futile."Tongue

I hope they succed, I really do... In many ways, even in enforcing the rules, as I agree with em... I thnk users of the net have always acted in a maner in which they would not face to face. I don't want to see this site change as I imagine it will, outlined above. What I am doing is offering my oppinion, AS A USER OF THE SITE, into what I think is actually detrimental to achieving that. Sorry if I don't sugar coat, and keep all my 'negative' critiques to myself. I, and others, believe we have valid concerns, and are voicing them.

That's what I think, but then I probably still have shit on my shoe, so what do I know.
