Hey Bob. I'm headed down to Pilot Mt in NC. Me and Jason are going to try camp weather permitting. It's about time you take a break and rest up.

Just got back from the carolinas. Climbed at pilot last weekend and rumbling bald this sat. The campground is sposed to open 3/15 at pilot. We stayed at a small campground near town of pilot mnt. there were signs. It was in a farmers back fields. I had a great time. My climbing sucks even more than it used to. Ike, pm me and maybe we can get together at the mill.

If you are down by pilot mountain, check out the info on Moores wall. Made it there once while I was working in Winston-Salem, can't remember the names of any of the routes, but was a nice break from night climbing at the gym. (Just good to be outside, and didn't have the daylight to make it to Pilot) On another note, just took a new job in New Castle (will probably start around mid April), so will be hitting the Mill evenings after work once the sun stays in the sky a little longer! (Ike, Charley, et al PM me if y'all are interested in some climbing at the mill... ) -- Cory

Courtesy of rockrat I have directions to Jumonville. I would like to go and try this area out. Anyone else interested in joining me can send me a PM. I hear there are some top rope climbs, short trad leads, and bouldering there. Right now, the weather is supposed to be 10% chance of rain and temps about 47 on Sunday. If you want to meet prior to going, I will probably be top roping at the climbing wall Thursday.

Hello all... Most of the ice is gone (no more climbable ice)... Hope everyone got out a bunch this winter. Local ice wasn't as good as most years, but it was still in quite a bit. I'm itchin' to get out rock climbing. Took a drive to Krahlick today, a few hunks of ice still hanging above the Kitchen. Most of the rock is dry (still quite cold), but dry. Looking for partners... a belayer.... a dead body to tie off to anything. Experience and gear NOT an issue. Get in touch. I need partners. Tomorrow is going to be NICE if anyone is free. Look for new crags to come this summer. I've still know of a lot of untouched rock just waiting for development. Tim

Hey tim, I've been searching around connellsville for bouldering this winter, I came across some stuff right off of 119 on sandy flats road and a couple of other places near there. For the most part it wasn't real good. I've been to the boulders that are directly south of connelsville, they were a little better. Also hiked to the pipeline boulders near the knobs and lost crag, not all that good for bouldering though. I tried to reach some boulders that I could see on the arial photos near the mine that is off of 119 as well, but was too scared to walk any further due to the workers being below me. Is there a boulder field out there somewhere that is good (like coopers lets say), I figured you are the guy to ask. Want to dish out some hints??? thanks Brian

Best bouldering around is probablly upper Casparis... We call it Foley's. Tons of bouldering just like Coops (without the crowds). 4WD is pretty much mandatory for getting there. Get in touch if you'd like to check it out. -Tim P.S. There is soooooo much bouldering around... we just need climbers willing to work and develop it!

I went to the mill and bouldered on sat. I have been asked to post when andwhere I might be going climbing. That may be possible some time but alot of the time I just don't know til the day or maybe the nite before. How many of you make last min. decisions on climbing. I watch the weather and go where it will be nice or stay close to home and hope for decent weather. This weekend is easter and I have 3 days and it is going to be raining on the whole east coast. It might be nice at seneca sat. I might give it a try. I could always hike the other days. Hopefully things will change by thur. Anyone else have climbing plans or is it still too early.

Weather depending, I am going to try to head to the mill next Sunday (Need some motivation!). Keeping the fingers crossed!!! Cory Stupid weather indeed. I spent 5 hours this morning plowing snow. There was 3-4 inches of heavy wet snow on the streets this morning. Sposed to be 57 tomorrow then get nicer each day for the next cpl. The weekend is sposed to be nice so I hope I am not at the mill. I hope I'm somewhere nicer.

I have stopped this thread from echoing to the front page, in accordance with the multitude of other regional threads that have grown heads of their own. Please address all questions and problems via PM to "Edge", and I will review them in 2024. Thanks a bazillion.

I met ladylayback at the mill this afternoon and we put up a cpl tr's and climbed til we were pleasantly tired. Too early in the year to get really trashed. We had a fine time. Fyi the mill is close to dry and it's warm. That is close to dry for the mill. The sunshine wall is still dripping and the beginners wall has wet spots. H&r was ok, mission is ok but damp up high, the aretes are all ok. It was near 7:30 when we left and there were ppl still climbing and it was still light enough to see. GET OUT and climb folks. The season is here. :D :D :D :D :D

Going to Breakneck today (4/6) from around 9:30 to 3:30. Anyone is welcome to join us, though I realize this is last minute. No I'm going to stumble back over to the coffee pot.

Hey everyone. I am new to this whole climbing thing, but i really like it a lot so far. I live in downtown PIttsburgh, and so far have only been climbing in gyms, but I really want to get outside. The problem is that I am gone every weekend, and so can't really climb then. Does anyone here climb during weekdays that would be willing to help me get started sometime? Thanks everyone.

I drove down to Breakneck Wednesday, and it looked like there were fresh no trespassing and private property signs just before the usual pull-off and trail in. Is there some new access issue anyone is aware of, or could it just be a reminder to stay away from the houses further up the road? As we didn't want to cause any problems if access has changed, we decided to climb poorly at Krahlick instead. While we're not climbing in good style, it was a beautiful day.

I've noticed those as well, and they've been there since last year. I'm not AWARE of any access issues, so like a good climbing bum I ignore the signs and just try to be kind of discreet. Several of the locals have seen us walking in and out of the location and never said anything. I spoke to a cop friend of mine who suggested that the worst possible outcome of this was getting a small fine, and in all probability we'd just be asked to leave. There have been SOME no tresspassing signs for a long time, and climbers have still been tolerated/allowed. You know as much as I do.
