My current job, as a Backcoutry Ranger for British Columbia Parks has alloud me to take the winters off and travel the world climbing in warmer latitudes when its cold back home in Canada. I also work 10days on 4 days off, that has aloud me to get out in the mountains durring the summer. I'm going back to school to become a Nurse because the work is in such high demand that I'll be able to auford to work where I want, when I want. And take a few months off durring the summer to climb at home.

I'm an en-gen neer. Working for the oil and gas industry, I am trying to ensure that EVERY TREE in northern BC is removed to make room for oil and gas facilities. Figure the pine beatle will take care of the rest of it, and then it will be as bald an boring as Alberta.... yay!

Meh, the market kind of ebbs and flows like the water in which the dirty little pinnipeds live. In recent years the demand just hasn't been the same as it used to be, because of the bad press brought on by those pesky environmentalists. Colin

I currently work at Manor MArket in Bishop, CA stocking mostly the imported beers (best beer and wine selection for over 200 miles!) and health food. I work evenings so I can climb any morning I want to and then my days off of course. As the summer hits I am going to have three days off in a row in order to really get into the backcountry. It's a good job, but I'm not getting rich that's for sure. I want to work in outdoor education as I used to be a ropes course directior and asst. Program director at a summer camp in Idaho. It would be awesome to eventually have my own outdoor ed. organization even...no guiding though, I'd rather teach people to develop their own skill rather than have them rely soley on mine... INteresting post/discusion. I am ALL ears about ways to enjoy life AND make money...and I know I am not alone.

Former uni lecturer actually teacher at international school. Works good to me since i get 200 working days and 165 holiday days / year which is a good time to go out climbing (i manage 1 or sometimes 2 small expeditions/year - timewise). C

Fisheries Technician at the McNary dam. I moved from Ohio to north crentral Oregon on the first job that was offered after graduation. The main bonus with this job is that I get 5 months off in the winter to snowboard but still climb whenever I get the chance. Brett

Webmaster/admin/programmer/just-another-'IT professional' in Christchurch, NZ. Now, if they would just sell gear a bit cheaper here, I might be able to afford it :P

I work as a service tech for Jon Don, the largest carpet cleaning and restoration supplier in the country. The home office is just outside of Chicago, which means on the weekends when i get to, my best bet for climbing is either up in Wisconsin or at the gym, its not so bad though.
