Cow climber is someone or can be group of people who follow the same set up and practices while climbing without ever understanding the reasons behind why things are done in a certain way .

For example; if a climber uses Fu*Klete multi-point with a cam and two nuts for an anchor, others will follow same set up without ever asking why its done that way.

In the image below, lead cow used 8 for belay and others will follow using the same device.

On the other hand, Goat climbers do not follow each other's method and have a tendency to create their own system so;

are you a goat climber or cow climber ?

I've never had the desire to climb on either--perhaps if I found myself away from home for a very long time, though.

ohh

I seen how you developed your foot belay system so you defiantly fall under goat climbers

If that was a typo, it's funny. If it wasn't, it is VERY funny.

This is far too narrow of a search space - only two choices. Add to the list ...

* nazi climbers - "Tsk, tsk! you said 'On rope!' instead of 'On Belay?'"
* vulture climbers - "Sheeet, they were stupid!"
* wolf climbers - "Power is my only salvation."

... and the ever present and boisturous in this forum ...

* make-me-feel-good climbers - close cousin to the vulture climber species.

Sorry, maybe I haven't had enough coffee this morning.

this is some of your better work, majid. well done. it's the most entertaining post i've seen in awhile.

you need to put fig 8, atc, gri-gri, munter hitch, and hip belays on those goats in that photo, though.

Hah! My personal favorite as a wolf-wannabe:

well..... I made my own nut tool, got 2nd place in the Homemade Cam World Cup, and have repeated my own offwidth FA with a swami and stance belay at the top - in 2008
If you don't understand the reasons behind things, how can you ever adapt to new situations, or climb without a guidebook, or do FA's on poor rock?

One time I followed some goats, hoping they would lead me to a source of water. I was right.

so, one time I was climbing Jagged Mtn (5th class easiest route, huge off trail approach) in the Weminuche Wilderness in CO, and we were descending some class 3ish stuff, then looked up and were being followed by a mountain goat. Above a weird 4th class pitch.

Then, I've followed bighorn sheep sign a couple times while scrambling and exploring scouting out some cliffs.

I'm somewhere between middle-of-the-road and goat. I guess that makes me a sheep climber? Shocked

Although my motivation for getting out of the standard rut is usually not curiosity, but determination and a refusal to bow down. For example using a swami, a biner brake, or bowline on a bight when I don't have the standard thing, but simply *must* climb. So does that make me part wolf, part sheep? A wolf in sheep's clothing?

My standard multipiece anchor is a mooselette. I designed a field-test and then self-tested all my own Aliens (and my partners' Aliens). I like doing FAs on crappy rock. Yup, pretty sure I'm somewhere on the goat end of the spectrum.

GO

What about a mule. Someone who even when faced with evidence about how to do something better, stubbornly clings to "this is how I've ALWAYS done it!"

I have probably shown all the animals of the ark at one time or another, but probably closer to the goat.

Although I was skeptical going in (cat?), this is probably one of your better (although weirder) posts, Majid.

If I was born 50 years earlier, I'd be a goat. But Harding, Chouinard, Bachar, and Sharma took all the good lines and patented the best gear concepts.

So ... moo.
