Yes.

BET East is going to have to start interviewing... have a few friends at the gym who could probably take the abuse at the crag

WANTED: The BET currently has an opening for "Lil'Bitch" in its East Coast Franchise. Must be able to talk about ice, skiing, and sekrit radness in Japan for years at a time while being ignored. At least two years prior experience as a fascist mod required.

It's going to be difficult to put an ad out for a position that by definition must exclude mention of said position.

What? It's a novel and you haven't heard of it? Oh wait, its non fiction ... never mind

what are you talking about? PotE is largely fiction.

Since snupes seems to be busy, and there's no sign of jak, I'll give the report.

Sunday at New Jack City. I left Josh and arrived at the crag after the rest of the crew was already there. Strong crew, we had jak, C-ya, the Mangler, snupe and the Brit.

First item of business: Jack left a rope hanging on the wall the previous day at 4pm. Returned at 9am, and teh rope was gone. LAME!!!!

On to business. I warmed up, and then it seemed like snupe, the brit and I all wanted to tick the same thing, I think it was called Split Personality? Snupe went up first for the true onflash and squirted at the devious crux. The brit botched his betaz on his first go and hung. I donned the super suit and barely fired. I clipped the chain off the wrong hold and only got one draw clipped before I pumped off. It still counts!! I came down and instead of the much deserved Gongratulations, the brit told me my vanity was disgusting and then laid the insult of the day on me: "I bet you twitter"

We all had teh laffs, then those guys fired the route, but not before snoppy pulled an incredible bird of fire, flying off with the chains literally in his face. Bkaaawk!

Mostly toproped some other hard stuff. I tried the Predator on TR, and I'm not sure I pulled a single move where one hand wasn't yarding on a big fat draw. ugh. Got cold and windy late in the day, and the crew bailed into the sun. It was about 4, so I had to start the long drive home.

GUd TR. I'm not sure what made me laff more: you thinking that you zent while clipping the rong anchors, or the Brits tort. He does have a way with wrods.

I clipped the correct anker... but I only clipped one draw. So I suppose it is a lighter than normal shade of pinkzight.

You mean like plywood features? Or would you make giant actual holds out of the plastic stuff?

Plywood features is a perfect description. I'd like to get into making holds, including jiant ones, but it's too much at the moment.

don't think that you can arbitrarily begin inviting people in. We don't care who you climb with, it is more of who we want to talk with.

well they wouldn't be BET folks anyway since they aren't on RC so that solves that.

Maybe you could import kaboom.

that would be a good trade.. he seems to enjoy risking heat stroke on a daily basis in tex-ass though.

Yeah, just in summer... which is from May to September. It would probably be a little humid though. Plus teh wifey likes the warm.
Does she know you call her that? I hate that term... just sayin

I usually call her "Old Lady" or "Crazy Bird" or if there's a chance should could hear me, "Grace."

yeah, our gym has some cool ones. A three-sided pyramid, each of its legs about two feet in length; a cool like half-a death star dome thing. Just simple trapezoidal or pup-tent shapes are really fun, too. Make for really creative movement, more dropknees, toe hooks, and heel hooks, especially on angles steeper than 45 degrees.

How do they hook onto the wall? Do they have a removable outer panel that you access to bolt to the wall, then screw the panel into place?

the ones we have are homemade. they just screw on. lots of screws.

The plastic ones usually have one super long bolt for the main attachment, then a couple of slider slots on the perimeter to help secure it. Since bolt spacing is always different you need the sliders. They can get kinda wobbly without the peripheral support.

I took my drill to the jim and made a paper template to figure out where to drill the bolt holes in the base. Then screwed the actual volume onto the base.

Finally!

It's close... I could probably climb on it as is but it's a little squirrely. Tomorrow I will brace with some 2x4, pound in some stakes either side of the base and secure, and then tighten the cables to finish.

Once we raised the wall it was a 70 degree slab.

Then we had to pull the bottom in and then tilt the whole thing out at the top.

Should be climbing on it once the snow predicted Tuesday is over.

Sweet!

I got to thinking on the weekend that I need to build some of those big composite holds that have embedded T-nuts for the rock jim. Just to mix up the eternal topography of the place. I've been setting there for a few years now and there are a limited number of routes to be set there.

You mean like plywood features? Or would you make giant actual holds out of the plastic stuff?

Plywood features is a perfect description. I'd like to get into making holds, including jiant ones, but it's too much at the moment.

They're called volumes. And the only thing cooler than having volumes on yore wall is to talk about them constantly.

now that is some stale GU.

rut roh - the klown zlipped on in me.

Hey A_B!! How wuz climbing with Burnzie?

I suspect he won't be telling us until he gets back from patigonia?

I hope he was successful in kutzing Burnzie's roap.

Translation for all maternal lurkers:
(This means I hope AB took a knife, cut Burnzie's rope and Burnzie fell to his demise.)

YES!!! I totally saw that movie in the theatres. Maybe that's what I'll watch tonight.

Saw black swan last night, didn't love it. Thought the lead character was too much of a whiny bitch.

Did you at least appreciate the lezbo seen?

He won't admit it but the Lumberjerk totally had a boner.
