Going climbing, finally. Last weekend was a bit of a scouting trip and today is an actual climbing day. I told one of my friends, who is a beginner, that since I didn't know the routes and grades that well that I wanted to climb with a third person so that she could learn how to lead belay first. Ordinarily, when bringing a beginner out alone, I don't mind giving a basic lead-belay lesson because I can pick a super easy route to do it on, but this was different. So she found someone to go with and we're going in about an hour. WOO HOO!
Wooo!

Pics and TR expected and demanded!
For sure. I did a little TR from last time here: Anhangava

Hrmm... I think I'm getting sick, or am already sick.

If the upset stomach, headaches, sore throad, nausea and lack of apetite this week weren't convincing me this week...

... tonite's battle entitled "vomiting vs. diarrhea: which will get to go first?" is probably the last hint I needed.

After working 12 consecutive days, this is what I really needed on my only day off.

Sorry if it distresses you but I chose it for my avatar as both a personal and public reminder that small mistakes while climbing can have grave consequences.

Anyway, it's reduced to a very small size on the thread screen, so as long as you don't click on it and get a close up view of all the meat, blood, bone and tendons exposed by the gaping wound, it's really not that graphic. I, on the other hand, only had a "nerve block" and was awake while they performed the surgery. I could clearly hear scissors chewing through flesh and feel the bones grind as they were pushed in to place and smell them being pre-drilled for the screws.

So buck up old chap, things could be worse...

This could be fun...
You, sir, are WIN!

Disappointingly, there has been no reply.

Was pretty funny.

yeah, I know. I saw it when it was in the theaters. that's how I knew to look it up.

I was telling my girlfriend the joke last night and wanted to show her the gilber godfreid and bob saget versions.

Telling her about the joke, or literally telling her the joke?

OMFG! I just found out that Craig Brewer, the guy who wrote/directed Hustle & Flow and Black Snake Moan, wrote and directed the new Footloose movie.

So, the question is - did the studios somehow convince him to make a shitty movie that the mindless masses will watch will make money, or is the new trailer a decoy? Personally I am hoping for the latter but the combination of the director, source material and the trailer has my head spinning.

both. it's kind of hard to tell that joke to an ESL person without explaining it. I didn't use the feces angle that Saget took. Instead I leaned more to the incestuous rape side. She was more stunned at first, but laughed once she got it.

Kenny Loggins was the best soundtrack musician out there for a while.

searching for apartments is a pain here. In Chile, it was easy, but here, with the culture, people don't trust anyone. For instance, one rental agency said that if I don't get anyone to be my guarantor, then I'd have to pay the equivalent of one year's rent up front as a guarantee, and then I'd have to pay my monthly rent, too. Of course, I'd get that one year back when I moved out...but WHAT...THE...FUCK?!?!?!

Fortunately, this only applies if one goes through an agency. If one goes through an owner then this bullshit is easier to manage. Unfortunately most apartments go through an agency.

We're thinking of starting a website to bring tenants and landlords together. Who's in?

No but feel free to do so more often.

I, for my part, will continue to do my best to entertain.

Desktop. Chillblast Fusion Atom. I upgraded the screen to a 24", the graphics card, the motherboard, and cpu cooler, case, and one or two other things. Came out to 730 quid. Heavy going, but at 14 hours a day I can earn that pretty quickly.

Plus I just found out that I qualify for getting funding as an independent this year for uni as I have been living alone with Cait for a year. Smile

That is pretty sweet. To get that in America, you have to jump through all sorts of crazy hoops.
