Yeah, shucks, you guys are probably right...Hey! while you're at it, you can add this to your "things that didn't really happen" file: http://images.google.com/...ermany/holocaust.jpg    re·vi·sion·ism n. Advocacy of the revision of an accepted, usually long-standing view, theory, or doctrine, especially a revision of historical events and movements.

In reply to: All theological debates aside, show me photographic evidence of Jesus. Maybe someday, j_ung, we can have a nice mellow chat around a fire, quaff down a brew or two and just chat. In the meantime, though, you mind holdin' on to this for me? http://www.simonharries.com/...photos/time-bomb.jpg

Just because YOU believe in God and Jesus doesn't make it true. Remember, there is no actual proof that any of it exists. Still, we know that human beings existed well before Christianity and most of what is written in the Bible. You can believe, but don't tell others they are wrong because they don't. I'd be willing to bet that there is no God and when you die, you die. That's it. Either way, in the end, we'll find out.

What do you mean? I thought you were saying that we are stupid because we believe/realize that Jesus may not exist. Did I just read that wrong? If I did...

Are you trully? Or, maybe just agnostic? I'm agnostic and believe that the Bible and Christianity is full of carp (yes, carp). Didn't want to be too harsh. Wildtrail not being harsh with his opinions??? Say it isn't so!!! Get over it. I'm in a good mood today. :D  :D

I was Catholic (don't tell anyone, it's not something I'm proud of). Christianity is the epitomy of hipocrisy. The Bible is contraditory and in my opinion, I don't understand devoting so much time and energy into something that may or may not exist. Others differ and that is most certainly okay. We're talking about opinion here and mine is that organized religion (specifically Christianity) is a waste of time. Faith, on the other hand, is not a waste of time. I have it, it's just not in any "god". I hope she isn't mad I said that. (could be a "she" ya know)

This reminds me of something I read in Dune by Frank Herbert. Basically, as the world got more and more technologically advanced, and people got better and better at killing each other, religion became the perfect reasont to slaughter other humans. (Just like it is now.) After a particularly horrible war, a council was convened and one world religion was introduced. Naturally, this religion didn't work so well, however, a single dogma was introduced:
In reply to: No religion may claim that it is the sole path to God. Have you ever thought about it? All religions, no matter how "open" they claim to be, say that they are the "way" to heaven. This sort of attitude breeds exclusivity and eventually hate and intolerance. I've lost many a friend to Christianity. How, you ask? Because they were my friends, became Christian, and now they're not. They don't talk to me anymore. Have you ever heard the expression:
In reply to: Don't be unequally yoked? Its from the Bible, and alot of Christians use it as basis for the idea that you should stay away from non-Christians, so the non-Christians don't "pull" you away from God. Its sad, but I don't hold it against them. It just that all religions are like this. It would be better if religious people stop claiming that they are the only "right" way to God, and just admit that they might be one of many.

In reply to: Its from the Bible, and alot of Christians use it as basis for the idea that you should stay away from non-Christians, so the non-Christians don't "pull" you away from God. Its sad, but I don't hold it against them. That's their loss. As a christian myself I'd say that if they want to believe that, having been "born again", they are now better than everyone else and should distance themselves from contact with non-christians, then so be it As far as someone concerned with being "unequally yoked" is concerned (as the commonly-used phrase goes) I'd say two things: 1. Is any marriage equal? To anyone who's married or even just in a relationship, I'd say: are you and your partner completely equal in every way? Are you as intelligent as her? Are you as wealthy as her? As compassionate? As funny?. Then by what standard are you judging your inequality? By the fact that you are a christian and she isn't? Well then that brings me to my next point.... 2. HOW DARE YOU JUDGE YOUR PARTNER?!?! HOW DARE YOU JUDGE ANY MAN, WOMAN OR CHILD?!?! HOW DARE YOU ACT OUT OF SELF-AGGRANDISEMENT YOU BLOATED, ARROGANT EXCUSE FOR A CHRISTIAN! JUDGEMENT IS NOT A PRIVELEGE GIVEN TO YOU, IT BELONGS TO GOD AND TO GOD ALONE, AND IF YOU WERE HALF A F*CKING CHRISTIAN YOU'D KNOW THAT ALREADY!!! Anyway, sorry bout that, I get a bit upset by christians who claim that they're so sonderful and good and the rest of humanity is so dirty and polluted. I don't know much about christianity, but I can tell you this: any christian who has no doubts and no fears, and who never allows for a moment the possibility that they could be horribly wrong... well, the only person who never has any problems with a set of rules is the one who never tries following them. Sometimes I f*cking hate christians.

tradman... I feel your pain, but don't get too harsh on miscreant Christians. Blind hate leads to more blind hate. Its like a seed that grows inside you and consumes you, and can be passed on to your children and everyone around you. Pity them, but don't hate them.

I was born into poverty and communism where religion had no grasp on life because day to day survival was necessary. Now I am halfway around the world a citizen of a democracy and now Christian. I believe in faith and Jesus...Jesus doesn't want you to take his word for it, He wants you to explore and question his teachings. Find out for yourself. Faith is what counts. Thats why the climbing community is so great. Everyone is so different! Although leaning more to the left... :D
