In reply to: Do you guys out there wish you had a girlfriend that climbed?! Even at all! My last gf Hated climbing and was worried about me when I did go. This question just popped in my head..thought I'd ask. It's all about the type of relationship that you want. It's quite simple for me. At the end of the day, when the thing you love doing most happens to be the same thing that he/she loves doing most as well, it's really easy to find a common ground. :) Now, that's not a pre-requisite for a good relationship, but it certainly doesn't hurt. You just need to figure out what's most important for you. - Seyil

Well, it's nice to share the things you love with the ones you love. But I find a very strange dynamic occurs when I do a more serious or alpine climb with my lover. I feel a lot more responsible for the safety of the team and a lot more timid. I guess if my woman had as much experience as I do, then it would be less of an issue. But I seem to be the insigator of such adventures. Craggin' at J-Tree, no problem, climbing 5.10 in the Sierra's, different story. But there's nothing like snuggling up around the campfire or in the hot springs on the East Side with your sweetie. You just can't do that with your bros.

My wife hated the idea of climbing when I met her... she is now my primary climbing partner... it rocks!! :) Plus we're getting our 3 year old into it.

Seems like girls that pretend 2 be climbers fit the bill quite often. Just wait 'till you marry them, boys. Just you wait. -Kate.

Commitment doesn't fit my lifestyle, but I do enjoy the company of girls, and if they'll climb with me, they place on the list with the best of my friends. :D

I recently got married. And though my wife goes climbing with me occassionally, I find myself not caring too much about climbing like I use to. Finding the good one, is much more important than finding the climb. I find people who make climbing their life, are looking for something they are never going to find. A good girl is better than any rock. She's a geologist by the way.

Gotta say that it would be awesome, as long as it's a good relationship. If you spend too much time with her and you both get on each others nerves then not so cool. But yea, like someone said, women that climb are hot! :)

Every time I see a couple (married our dating) go climbing together, it turns into a complete and total bitchfest. Even worse with kids.

This question just popped in my head..thought I'd ask. someone to shag and climb with????why wouldn't i want that!!!!!!!!! :P but...to become a true jedi ninji kung rock warrior, i must totally clear my mind and focus on the rock...yet i've gone to the rock with gurls i've shagged, its just a matter of focusing and a factor of "when to" and "when not to"....if you know what i mean as long as i keep the two activities seperate...its all good, but its always kool to share it with someone special.... (she can't be a belay betty or anything; belay slaves not cool)

My wife is a great partner. She's not as into climbing as I am but she keeps up 90+% of the time. What's great is that with two different male friends I've failed at big wall. With my wife I've gone 2/2. I lead one and she lead the other. Josh

Yeah i agree with most of the other posts, i would like a wife or a girlfriend that climbs. This would be a huge plus considering that i spend most if not all of my free time climbing, if she ever wants to spend anytime with me then she would have to learn to climb to. Eventually i would also try and get my kids into the sport (way of life) as well.

If all I did was climb, then I probably would insist on a climbing g/f. fortunately I am not that one dimensional. I have a great time skiing and w/w paddling with my wife and she happily lets me go off on climbing trips which gives me some alone time. She is even encouraging me to go on proposed climbing trip to Africa w/o her. In return she gets space when she needs it. It is most important to respect each other no matter what you like to do.

In reply to: I want to date maculated. Does that anwser your question? I'd like to second that motion :P Oh yeah, on a completely different note (nothing to do with maculated...) sex on a portaledge could be pretty interesting. Come to think of it, lots of climbing gear could come in handy for a lil fun (or so I've heard...) -- webbing...um...more webbing...
