yeah...it is on rt 441 in between east of marrietta and west of columbia...if you are heading west from columbia on 441 parking is at the bottom of the hill (don't park at the overlook or the "official" area) and there is a right hand curve in the road...you will see a pull off (on your left), park there.. you will see a little open field with a small white building and an obvious trail, follow the train and you will see the rock...if you continue around and up onto the covered up train tracks you will see a picnic table... and the main wall it faces the susquehanna...if you continue to the right (facing the wall) and go around..you will see a staircase that will take you to top=rope if you do not lead trad...have fun, you will meet a lot of really neat ppl there!! PM me if and when you guys go... [ This Message was edited by: climbinganne on 2002-08-13 16:23 ]

Sounds great guys...wish i could come. Definitely let me know how it goes.... As for Sunday, what time are you thinking Anne? Could you meet somewhere on your way past Lickdale on 81? on Lebanon on the TP? Not sure which way to get there. Climb on guys and God Bless Randy PS. With all these Lancaster climbers aboard, I'm up for putting together some RC.com gathering for this fall. Lets start brain storming.

This thread/post-- call it what you wish-- kinda shifted off course a bit. So perhaps we need to get back to the main point I'm trying to investigate. It has been stated that YES, Chickies has some good potential routes, Trad I assume. Unfortunately, many of these are overgrown and have been forgotten. Therefore, Does an Adopt-a-Crag day make sense to gather climbers who often frequent this area in order to SCRUB-A-DUB-DUB! That would make this area even better, with more potential! Apparently Anne and other took on this task once already; however, when in comes to cleaning up such a large rock as Chickies, power comes by numbers. (And they are certainly ALOT of climbers who frequent Chickies) Therefore, is a planned Adopt-A-Crag Day the answer? Fix the trail leading up the side, Scrub some routes, and discuss some ratings and grades. How does that sound?! God BLess Randy

There is and was Adopt-A-Crag day at Chickies. The LCC did one last year. That was mainly thrash that time. We coordinated with the park to pick up all the trash. I dont know when the next day is scheduled but the web site that might have it is http://www.geocities.com/lancasterclimbingclub/ Todd

Thats great. I think the key of a future Adopt-a-Crag should be SCRUBBING. So the climbing because better! randy

I Hail from Rochester, NY but grew up in E-town and still visit my parents on average once a month for a weekend. It is about a 4.5 hour drive for me. My roommate and I climbed Chickies earlier this summer and I would like to get back once more this fall to climb again. We do mostly top roping right now but I am intrested in the clean up work you are doing. It is cool that you are trying to organize. The ironic part is that I was in town the weekend of the 18th and did not know. I just read all the posts today. I will keep tabs on the posts and let you all know when I plan on showing up and We would not mind helping out..
