In reply to: Synnot's tech tip was in Climbing #181. Now that's a straight forward hauling setup!

In reply to: In reply to: Synnot's tech tip was in Climbing #181. Now that's a straight forward hauling setup! That's the one. So, when rigged with a Protraxion, couldn't you just clip the upper pulley to the bottom hole of the protraxion and make it even less cumbersome. I've seen a protraxion set up for a three to one but can't remember how it was configured. Seems so much cleaner than riggin' with a separate cord. -Brian in SLC

Heres a good link check out Copperhead's post on page 3 about half way down, http://www.rockclimbing.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13086&postdays=0&postorder=asc&topic_view=&start=30 I've one wall and I've spent lots of time learning and putting in hours. I went with the method copperhead used and was pretty simple, and I didnt have any trouble setting it up. The steel biner was alittle on the heavy side for the loads I was hauling so I just used a normal locker right into the bolt. Oh and I was with ED on the wall when the cam failed, I had to hook up my gri-gri and a jumar (old school way) to take the weight so we get it to lock off, it slipped twice on us. Before you ask 1- it was setup right 2- 11mm good condition rope 3- the angle was fine.. If I didnt see it I probably wouldnt have belived it either.

Anyone use one of these instead of the others mentioned? I've only ever used a protraxion myselft, but I thought I'd point it out. Ural-Alp (makes Ushba stuff) Big Hauler, 60mm sheave diameter. http://cgi.ebay.com/...1299&item=7138450639
