We will divide all areas into three categories: 1. Open Access- maps, directions, other sources. 2. Limited Access- "local crags" no directions or maps 3. Restricted Access- Private Property no directions or maps On the latter two we will only give vague references to the locations (ie. nearby cities, or region) And we will carefully screen the stories and authors that get published. Much like the warnings placed on this site for adding new areas.

Well you don't have to worry about me. I'm a Texan, and am only willing to be shot at if I too am armed. I didn't know Arkansasians hated Texans, I thought we just made fun of you sister-fuckers all the time  . In fact I dated two girls I found out were from Arkansas. When I found out the first time, before I could think I said, "You're from Arkansas!?!?!?!?! That's funny, you don't look inbred. :? " It was soooo funny I said it to the second girl too. I think I got slapped each time...

I'm in Texas right now, and I agree with the Arkansaianites. Texas is the devil. And I didn't know there was climbing anywhere in the south, I thought it was all flat and... well crap basically. Anyways, Arkansas huh, I don't think anything good has come from Arkansas.

Rosh, Texas is a big friggin' state, I've been to countries that had millions of people that were smaler than Texas. But since you thought the south was void of climbing anyway, I guess I don't really have to try too hard to point out your ignorance.

I and a few other regulars on RC.com are going to Batesville (Cherokee/Jamestown) tomorrow. It's pretty good stuff with some sport routes put up mostly by one guy (Dan King?) and lot's of oppotunity. It's way out in the Jamestown Wildlife Management area, which kinda adds to the fun for me. Join us if you want. Regards, Sam

In reply to: What language do they speak in that country anyway? DMT Good question - you might still be asking it once you visit! While the climbers tend to be more articulate in English, many of the local hill-folk are fluent only in Ozarkie. Even Okies from just a few hours' drive away undergo some culture shock: like on the way to some Sam's Throne sandstone, when you pass through "Booger Hollow - population 7, including 3 'coon dogs." Friendly bunch, though, and it seems like they hardly acknowledge a route if it's not got at least an 8-foot roof on it! Humbling after a steady diet of thin slabby granite. But, to answer the question, I care too. It's the Natural state!

not me, but apparently Kenny our buyer does, because he's from there. What about the snow? I prefer the Tahoe, Donner, Yosemite, Lee Vining area, thanks.

Firstly, there is no reason for anyone to go to Arkansas. They should just go west and take advantage of the pleasantly crowded crags out yon. Secondly, if you are wanting to put together such information, I definately agree you should include very few directions/guides, if any. One plus of having a separate site is that it would only be accessed by few, namely regional climbers who are already into Arkansas climbnig-- not the whole climbing world as it would if you just gave the info to rc.com. And lastly, I do like the idea of having a site with some Arkansas articles-- not in the fashion of "new areas", but as you said, with features on the up and coming area climbers, historical info, and perhaps just some what's happening on the AR-climbing scene. It is a cool idea, but--and I'm sure you know this as an Arkansas climber--it is also a risky one. It'd would have to be done right to fly with the many teritorial natives!

Mason-Dixon on the north borderd by the mississippi on the west. LA and AR, while technically west of the mississippi, are still part of the "the south." FYI.....

Wow, I was actually being facetious, but you know, getting defensive is a good reaction. And I know that Texas is a big friggin state, that really doesn't have anything to do with what I said. And from what I've seen the south is mostly flat, I knew there was some climbing, but when I think of climbing I don't think of Arkansas. Chill out dude.

"Christmas Break" We haven't had a decent snow in a while down here... Although a few climbable ice routes did form last year. But I'm not telling where... I've got dibs this year. Cheers, A.W.
