In reply to: You have awoken a sleeping giant!! Laughing SLC has little "climbing energy" eh? Maybe its cause you hang with limp wristed " climbers" who would rather "be mellow" than climb. There are so many fucking strong climbers here it makes your local hardguy look like a puss. Trust me SLC has lots of "climbing energy" no doubt. And Tyler is one of the main drivers for new development...

In reply to: In reply to: Just to be fair, I'm from Denver (Wyoming originally), and I've got a bad attitude. It's not all about boulder. I agree, climbers and kayakers in Jackson can be very unfriendly. Not even a simple "hello" back from many of them. What's the deal? Climbers are supposed to be chill and welcoming to everyone, it's all about having fun right? Ah, implying that Jackson is in Wyoming was your first mistake...it may be geographically, but not psychologically.

No one place has an exclusive on dipshits, IME. There's legions of them here in LA. I can be one at times. Just remember that genuine cool is never self-absorbed or fractious--just the opposite. JL

In reply to: No one place has an exclusive on s---, IME. There's legions of them here in LA. Speaking of which - I can imagine that Arnold is feeling like quite the dipshit now. Hopefully his loss will teach him to choose his enemies more wisely in the future. Somehow, I don't see much for him in terms of a political future, although I could be wrong.

No, I think they would call you something else. Ha ha.

I hear what you’re saying. I have been a front ranger for almost a decade now and find that most boulderites are cool. The rock is a gift from god, as long as the rich boulderites are not trying to limit access because they think every day user are a eye sore to there mountain views. It’s the arss that make there mark. I have been accosted and badgered on a few different occasions from my clothing to the fact that I was not liberal enough and so on. So I think it is a yig yag thing.

Hmmm.... Boulder.... Went to school there for three years, hated the school. Initially CU shaped my opinion of Boulder, legions of rich kids without a care in the world. During my three years there this is mainly what I saw, this was the Boulder world for me, and I hated it. Recently my opinions have changed a bit, not the least because my brother lives there now and has fallen in with a group of friends and climbers that really seem like genuinely cool people. My main complaint with Boulder now is different. I like to visit when I can, but the place for me is just too perfect to live in. The people are too beautiful, life is too good, the sun shines too much, the girls are too pretty, there are too many good restaurants, people are too healthy, the climbing is too good (wait..), too much yoga, too many health food stores, too many laid back intellectuals and artists. If beautiful people, healthy food, and good weather aren´t your bag the town has everything else on offer. It´s just too perfect and well rounded, I like places with gaping flaws. All that said I have met some great people from Boulder, and even harbor a perverse desire to live there a few months and be close to Eldo. =Pat Vernon
