I hope he leads single pitch trad, and not just sport  That is definatly a nice christmas present though, ive never gotten anything like that from my grandparents. Its nice that you have all the gear you need, but i think theres also a downside. Since you didnt build it piece by piece, you wont have the intimate relationship with each cam, chock, and biner that you would otherwise. Still way cool tho.

So you live in Atlanta? Now my question is where you are going to use all this? And who is gonna drive your ass there to use it? I'll come pick you up next time I head to Tallulah for charge of a #2 Camalot. :D

Anyone else notice the photo doesn't really match the description? e.g. the photo appears to contain a couple of Aliens (yellow and green?), a couple of DMM cams, a blue (#2) tricam, and some BD hexes - none of which are in the description. Those don't look like Omega D screwlocks either, and I'm not sure about the Quicksilvers. Sure, it's a shitload of gear, but I don't think it's quite as sexy as the photo makes it look. Or am I just jealous that I got a pink tricam and a couple of nuts for Christmas?

In reply to: My grandparents(i am 14 and have just started leading single pitch) decided to buy me the California Dream Rack!!!!!!!!! just thought id make everyone feel bad. Troll alert troll alert!! Liar alert aswell. In another thread he states:
In reply to: This year my climbing partner and I ascended to 21,000 feet on Aconcagua's South Face and then a storm hit us. My Alpine rack is rather small and we had to lower off to a small ledge about 80 feet below for a bivy. The closest crack was so small that only my smallest BD stopper would fit. It only fit by about 1mm. We didnt think much of it at the time. So 14 years old just started leading and did the south face of Aconcagua. I smell bull shit. Hmmm what to beleive...how about nothing. AND this is no advice from a 14 year old that just started leading:
In reply to: It really depends on what route you are taking. If most of it has technical climbing involved then you should go light and simple. two per sleeping bag and one tent. You can split up the tents weight and the 3rd person can bring a lighter sleeping bag and sleep in they're DRY clothes. But only bring a larger tent if you are sure there is a place to put it. The higher you go , don't expect to get a goods night sleep anyways. One thing I have learned it if the route is a short 2 day one you can climb through the night to stay warm and brew up and nap all throughout the climb.

In reply to: In reply to: In reply to: What on Earth is the "California Dream Rack?" (Besides mine, of course...) I can vouch for roseraies dream rack and that she is indeed from California  Yeah, Gary really liked my Aliens. "Aliens"... so that's what you call them. I remember climbing with you at MG a couple of years ago and you were begging me to be one of the first to play with your "Aliens." Little did I know, I had part of a California Dream Rack in the palm of my hand.

Is it possible to 1) adopt your grandparents 2) get the gift but 3) Make some substituions? ie lose the hexes, tricams, bigbros, t-shirts etc, and get more cams?

In reply to: I've always regarded (not so much now, but definitly a "few" years ago) pamella anderson as the Californa dram rack... jokes aside thats a f---ing presant and a half, i mean JESUS! if it wernt for HB going bust, i wouldn't have a rack at all! For my christmas+birthday I managed to weasel my parents into getting me 1 ice ax and some crampons, and a pair of boots, total cost £200 (around $300) at times like these, i wish my grandparents were still alive. just do it justice and put it to good use. -Magnus Not real ones then?
