honestly this stuff doesn't really matter but i occasionally have similar ethics questions so I will chime in.

Your friend gets the pitch but not the climb. you have to climb all the pitches of a multipitch for the send. it sucks but thats the way it is. for those that keep score if he climbs it again he gets the redpoint. the reverse of this is following the crux pitches on a trad route and leading the easy pitches doesn't count as a lead of the route. you have to go back and lead the crux pitches (or not if the climb sucked anyway)

standing or grabbing bolts is classless but if your on lead anything goes. if you need to pull a piece suck it up and admit the climb was better then you and add a little A0 next to the date you knocked it off. don't go bragging you climbed it free. i've had people tell me fixed pins were part of the holds on a climb which is sad.
