It goes both ways! First of all, I only have really one or two climbing partners and it's difficult and seldom to get to get out climbing. Second, when I AM out climbing, they guys all seem to be coupled up or waaaaaaaaaaaaay young. I don't even KNOW any other single people! No climbing gyms within a reasonable distance - can't afford one right now anyway, so that point's mute. Bouldering is not for me and there's nowhere near me to do that anyway, as far as I'm aware. Wildtrail - I'm so sorry you don't want to share such an important part of your life with someone who's supposed to be even more important in your life. Oh well. If it's ok with her, then whatever works, I guess.

My girl was a gymnast and a very good sailor before I told her that I climb, two perfect skills. Naturally she was intrested in learning. However, as a teacher by trade, teaching someone that you are involved with is much more difficult than a stranger, so that can cause stress. Another option for you is to steal a climbing chick. Try pointing to climbs with your biceps bulging, or the ultimate warm up excercise: put your right leg forward and shake your thigh vigerously. quickly slap the muscle with both hands and point at it, as you hold your leg still. The last three steps must be simultaneous to capture the desired effect on the ladies. Or you can take the man out of the picture: when he is leading either do the above, or recommend the slip-slop-sliiiiiiiiiiiiide method of belaying. I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Good Luck my friend....finding a single climbing "woman" is about as common as seeing Haley's Comet....at least where I have visited.
