In reply to: NOW, Nate, you make me a rock climber.... Seriously? I'm not a miracle worker or a magician. You may be S.O.L. Aid climbing 101 is at Jordan tomorrow. The first thing we will practice is our alpine starts. We'll quickly get into approaching and racking up in the dark. Now back to the topic at hand. How soon until all these rock climbers are going to be able to climb up at Lion's Head? And more importantly, has anybody seen my ice up there?! :(

Hmmm....hmmm. Cape Croaker, eh? Was there once last year, didn't seem like it got a lot of action, and there was a ton of poison ivy , but it would still be cool to check out a little more. I would think it would still be pretty chilly being so close to the lake though. Weather looks amazing this weekend. Would love to get away somewhere (ah-heem...gunks?), but my car might be leaking oil and I really should get her checked out before I do any longer drives. If we don't get away we'll probably be spending the weekend around Milton.

In reply to: and there was a ton of poison ivy That seems to be a comon theme in S.Ontario. Haven't you all heard of RoundUp? Hey Neil, Have you climbed at White Bluff much? I'm hatching big plans for this summer that involve a certain route there. :tinfoilhat:

I'd love to head up to Croker (or any of the crags on the Bruce) this weekend, but so far all my friends suck and no one can commit... The weather looks beautiful. Anyone know whether the campground is open at Croker yet, or is it just 'free' right now.

Was there once last year, didn't seem like it got a lot of action, and there was a ton of poison ivy  . yeah, i went there last year with climbjunk from this site. i ended up with a bad case of poison ivy! :( we gave up our search for climbs and headed to lion's head. chossmonkey, i spent one rain day at white's bluff last year...so just that familiar with it. i'm sure i'll be up there a lot more this summer. so give me a call when you are heading up here! i want to see you hatch those plans! ecocliffchick, i do have to do some farming this weekend (son of a farmer), but once i find out what my schedule is, i'll let you know if i am heading out sunday or saturday to climb. i would love to hit one of the bruce crags this weekend....

ecocliffchick, Melissa and I are gone this weekend (stag and doe in Guelph), but you're welcome to stay at our place if you come up here. There's plenty of room for tents (25 acres), a bunkhouse, and there's a spare key for the house if you need any extra convenience. Don't know if you remember, but I met you at Emmet Lake when you were doing your research up here. We have a place at Miller Lake now, Melissa is working full time at the park. If you decide to come up PM me (by tomorrow aft.) and i'll give you specifics to find our place, we're 20 mins from Lions Head. Gowser, that goes for you too. Clint. p.s. i'm gonna try to race back up sunday to catch an afternoon at cape croker. I might be hung over, but whatevs.

Hey Clint - how do you feel about people coming up to camp at your place over the May long weekend? I'm thinking about heading north to climb that weekend (welcome to join if you're interested) and want to avoid the crowds at the campgrounds.

Funny you should ask, we're having a party here that weekend. You're welcome for sure, come as early as possible to get the better tent spots. I'll PM you with the address and directions. Bring bug spray, the friggin black flies are killin me......hopefully they'll be less numerous by then (not likely). later clint.

and to finally answer the OPs question. Yes, this week was the first foray out to LH. I rope soloed (on my birthday) two classics on the maneline wall. It was effin brilliant, sun on my back the whole time with not a cool breeze nor a black fly to be seen. Yesterday we hit up White Bluff for a quick afternoon climb. Temps were great and again the flies were no where to be seen. Hopefully this good weather trend lasts through til the long weekend. Keep your fingers crossed. Cheers, Clint.
