This may be an odd deal to post but I think it can help a lot. I've done a few trips out west over the last year and a half or so and have rented cars for the week. Being under 25, I was worried I was going to pay a lot more to rent until I found this thread: http://www.fatwallet.com/.../travel-deals/790643 In there you will find contract IDs that you can use when renting a car. They work similar to coupons but are made for different companies (i.e. the one I use is for Ohio State University students/faculty). Furthermore, they post coupons as well (free days, $30 off of a week, etc). Without these I would be paying $400-500 for a week but with these I pay $150-200, huge savings. Since I rent from National (since they waive the under 25 fee), they also have even better deals if you're an Emerald Club member. Here is a link to a free Emerald Club Executive membership: http://www.fatwallet.com/...eals/827192/?start=0 This allows you to reserve a full-size car, pay the mid-size price, but choose any car out of the Emerald Club Aisle or Executive Aisle. This may include SUVs, 4wd trucks, etc. Good to haul gear around and get up those back roads. The contract ID I use is 5000491 for National and it waives the underage fee, adds Loss Damage Waiver protection for free, and gives me a 10% discount. And I don't go to Ohio State :) (they've never asked for proof). Even if you don't want to rent from National, there are a bunch of other deals from the other agencies to be had.

Good info - i'm not under 25, but i found much better deals on Hotwire. I saved about 30% on a rental using hotwire, and that was off of a friends already decent national corporate rate through his company (which was better than any other company's advertised rate i found). Ended up booking on hotwire with Thrifty for an awesome price. FYI i think thrifty charges $10/day underage.

Here's the crap you can't buy : Skis, Snowboards, ski or snowboard accessories, lift tickets, kayaks, bike frames or wheels, the north face, black diamond (boo), scarpa, burton, volcom, element, 686, red, anon, acr, bca, western mountaineering, merrell, zipp wheels, fox racing, sidi footwear. The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away.

I use zenni optical. great service, incredible price. alot of weird looking frames. but if you look around you can find something normal. I got a pair of bi focal with scratch and glare resistant lenses for like $30. and i paid 450 for my prior pair..
