I you must have double ropes and lock them off check out a rescue rack. They are available with Aluminum or steel bars (steel has less friction -> faster) and you can get an extra wide top bar which you can use to lock off the rope as you would with a rescue 8.

Although personnally, I would recommend learning how to lock off an ATC or similar device with a knot, most climbing knot books have it in there.

This is a very expensive option, and is probably best suited to people who have a bit more cash.

It probably can't be used for belay, and is quite heavy, but if you're only abseiling, and have a big wallet, its probably pretty good.
