When: MAY 18-20 Camp: TBA, but should be free and big enough for at least a medium group (so, not my front yard :) ). Perhaps that spot near the Overlook? You know the one. a.k.a., Whatever Annual AZ Gathering and Chili Cook-Off I'm not sure how it happened but I think I've been tasked with getting an AZ party going. So, let's get on with it. WHEN: Whenever. The sooner, the less likely the forests are to be closed for fire danger. Post potential dates, we'll vote on them later. Try to keep them in the spring, not summer (and try to avoid Memorial Day weekend, oy) WHERE: I've always been biased to Flagstaff, and now that I live here, that's pretty much cemented into place. Flag has the most mild weather, the most camping opportunities, and the most diverse climbing for all. So, unless somebody lodges a very compelling protest, Flag it is. However, the forests do like to catch on fire here, so if anybody has a viable plan B, post up anyway. WHO: you and yours. I would like to extend an extra-special invite to people from SoCal, Central Cal, Vegas, Moab, and the back of a CRV with Flawda plates *cough* WHAT: limestone sport at the Pit, columnar basalt at the Forks and the Overlook, red sand groveling at Sedona, limestone roof tugging at the Draw, and old man finger-tweakers at Glorias and Elden. NOTES: -at least two of our local boys, Reno and my Alex, will be preparing some wicked camp chili. Reno makes his in a Dutch oven, and Alex makes his with chiles and onions slow-roasted on the grill over mesquite chips. Anybody else who wants to bring/make some homemade chili, please do! And some charcoal liners fer yer shorts -There'll probly be some whisky making the rounds too. And definitely tequila and vino, especially if the SoCal peeps come. -Dogs are cool, as long as they're not bastids. -Alex and I are camera nerds, so if you climb with us (we usually travel as a unit) you're likely to get some fancy-shmance "from above" photos. So, post in this thread (rather than PMing me) if you're interested, how big your party is, and what dates would be best.

I am a party of one. And will be in the are in early-mid May so that would be a cool addition a potentially phenominal trip. If that is too late, oh well. Maybe some other time.

I'm game, let me know when/where. If fire hazards are bad this year, I know it's a hike from where you are, but Mt. Lemon will give some good options, drive up the mtn until it's cool enough and start climbing.

In. Party of one plus a dog. Can ride-share from PHX. Plenty of space in the Yukon. Sno: Leave the BF, and just bring your sense of... uh... "adventure." Chad: Don't worry about not climbing hard. I suck on the approach hike, and will be more than happy to loaf on easy stuff all weekend. Bizzaro: That's a perfect weekend.... I second that suggestion.

I'd love to go but will already be in the area for memorial day weekend. No way I can get out there two weekends in a row. Yes, I'm finally going to brave that road again.

The wife and I will be out at the family camp on Mormon 5/20-5/26. We were out last year and did our first few climbs at the Pit. We'd love to meet some climbers while we're out this time around.

I'm sure it's lovely.
