Lots of threads for people looking for partners... So post up here... what, where and when... plus contact information.... Instead of starting new threads, just post in this one.

I'll start... I'm looking to get out Tuesday to Heart Creek after work (around 3:30-4 leaving calgary). PM me if you're interested.

This is an excellent suggestion, gg, and I will follow your lead.

Did you know that RC.com has a "calendar" facility
http://www.rockclimbing.com/calendar/index.html
that might be suitable for this purpose. We can ask the site owners if they can tailor it for this use. What do you think of that?

Looking for someone to get out with. I do not have a ride, but willing to pay for gas. I Have not been out much in the last year, but still a confident and safe climber. Need a few weeks to get my chops up again so if anyone is up for taking it a little easier let me know.
At the moment I'm free whenever, want to get out as much as possible and get back into shape.

Hi All,

I'm new to Calgary, I've done most of my climbing in Squamish. I'm looking to get out and explore some new rock in the Canmore/Banff area. I can lead up to 5.11 on gear. I've been spoiled with the hard granite in squamish, I've heard it's not as solid here and run out, so I may go down a couple of grades. I'm available for climbing most days and have a flexible schedule. This week I'm available Thursday to Sunday. email me at ultrafit@shaw.ca or call me at 403-441-0666 and my cell is 604-720-6164.
Look forward to getting out there soon.
Robert.

OK, add my name to list of Calgary climbers looking for partners. Most of my experience is on granite so my limestone abilities vary but I can generally lead sport up to 5.9 and follow 5.10

I am available weekends, and evenings during the week (last minute is cool with me). Most importantly I have wheels.

You can e-mail me at stefanyshyn@nerdshack.com or call me on my cell at 869-5540

I am looking for gear heads to do some trad/alpine routes in the Rockies for now. Planning trip in the fall for southern US but nothing specific yet just few places I dream about. Looking for another gear head. I can do all 9's I've been on all kinds and all 10's I've been on ( not a lot ), I am fast and solid leader when sport is considered and with my own rack - then it varies. I have partners here for gym and ocasional outing but they all choose to have life. I move here to climb I don't want any life just work ( so I can climb ) and climb. Could be easily persuaded to climb in Bugs and Squamish on the weekend's

Hey,
I'm looking for sport climbing partners who are available weekdays (weekends are OK too). I climb about a 5.9 and am willing to try toproping 5.10a or b if someone wants a belay. I would also be willing to follow on a trad day occasionally, but then I am about a 5.7 crack climber. I have gear and a vehicle so if anyone is interested, let me know. I would really like to make it out sometime this week.
Thanks, Jo

Hi Erick

I've taken loads of people up and was always more than happy to be able to do that but this year is all about me I am coming back after not climbing too hard for couple of years due to illness and this year is my first year in the Rockies. I need well seasoned partner with good gear around knowledge and solid head as I would like to push my limits a bit. Next year I be more than happy to show you the ropes.

Thanks, Anna

Just a couple of points here. While I'm not particularly looking for partners, I don't mind meeting new climbers and I've taken a few beginners out too. I mostly climb weekends although this weekend is already organized but e-mail me if you want to climb sometime.

I see new climbers looking for partners but they often have pretty empty profiles. I like to see who I may rope up with but mystery climbers don't inspire me to PM them. Fill out the profiles - be honest, and you may get more responses peeps. Cool

It also helps to see what areas people want to climb or if you're looking for sport/trad, or my fave - ice. Until the season starts up again, have fun on rock

hey, I'm not desperately looking for climbing partners right now, but its always good to meet other climbers (esp as it can be pain lining up people with the same days off sometimes).

I'm in Banff & have gear but no car. Keen to get out climbing sport &/or trad... need to get fit again. I climb sport to about 5.11, back home I was climbing the same on trad but I'm not so sure about trad limestone - I need to climb more here before I'm comfortable leading harder trad things. Once winter comes back I'll be out on ice also.

Have plans to do a fair few multi-pitch things locally this summer, as well as trips to the Bugaboos & Squamish (August probably). I just want to get fitter so I can do these bigger things.

drop me a line (email is better) if you're keen to get out. I'm free evenings & Fri-Sat-Sun. although the weather is shite here today, we'll see if it clears up in the next few days.

later,
James.

I'm looking for climbing partners for the next four months... sport, trad, alpine, bouldering. I've been climbing for about 3 years, and can lead mid-10s sport. I can lead 5.8 on trad at Squamish but when it comes to the Rockies, I'm more conservative.

Currently, I live in Calgary, but will be in Banff from the end of August until the end of October.

I'm interested in climbing with anyone who is safe and fun. I have some weekdays off as well as most weekends. Send me a PM if interested.

I am mainly a trad and alpine climber at moderate grades. Can climb true 5.9 trad and lead hard ice. Enjoy alpine routes like east ridge of temple. I have august and september off with only a small portion of it booked and am looking for easy going, experienced partners to climb with. I am open to where and what( bugs, squamish, terrace, rockies alpine. Also don't mind a little casual craging. Anyone interested drop me a line.

Hello everybody,

I currently live in Belgium and am planning a month-long trip to Canada's west coast in September. I'm flying into Calgary and am willing to sample your deservedly famous rock - and need a partner during the week of sept 1-10. Anyone around and available?

I like it all - sport, trad, alpine, will follow up to 5.11, lead up to 5.10...'d love to go to the bugs, or just stick to multipitch sport, or get a belay at a crag in the worst case.

The summer weather in Calgary is so wonderful it's hard to stop smiling. Angelic
But I want more... Shocked

I have this Thursday and Friday off (July 19-20) and I'm looking for anybody to head into the mountains those days, anywhere in the Rockies.

I'll go anywhere with anybody (hey! I'm easy). So if you can take me along, then drop me a PM or email. Cool If I can meet you in Calgary, the train takes me almost anywhere I want to go.

Hi,

If you all have time and hunger for climbing just go with me. I'm a Belgian climber visiting my sister in Calgary. I like to continue climbing while being in such a great environment as the rockies. I'm a skilled climber and for sportclimbing I climb as a leader 5.10a/b an I follow in 5.10 c/d. I like to go this Wednesday-Thursday-Friday (July 25-26-27). If you are interested mail me on leentjeverboven@msn.com or phone me (403) 288 6787

Hi everybody,

I'm living in Canmore untill the end of August and unfortunately, I lost my old partner a few weeks ago. He decided to have a trip to Vancouver... what an idea ?! hahaha

Anyway, like most of you here, I'd like to find a reliable partner to climb with. I can lead 10 A-B sport routes and I'm 100% willing to climbing before and after the work and during my days off. I also have a car and my own rope.

I'm also very interested in Trad climbing, so if you're a Trad climber looking desperately for a partner, I'd really like to climb with you. I have some gear (nuts, tri-cams and slings) and knowledge about Trad and I feel ready to discover to this challenge. I'm a quick learner with whom you won't get bored.

Please, leave me a note at danycou@hotmail.com

Thx guys !

Hey everyone,

I live in Calgary and am also looking for a reliable, safety-conscious climbing partner.

I can lead 10a,b(,c on a good day) sport and am happy to follow 10c,d (11a on a good day). I also lead easy trad routes (5.7-8) and will follow up to the low 10s. I've got a couple of ropes, gear, car, and am looking to do more multi-pitching (sport or trad) this year.

But really, the grades and the type of climbing doesn't matter too much. I just want to get out there.

Cheers.

hey y'all,

long story, but I'm in calgary till sunday and need to go climbing before I leave at least once (was supposed to go several times, but again, long story...)

so, if anyone's free and up for anything (heck, i'd settle for bouldering at this point!) and can give a lift (oh, and has gear...suitcase isn't big enough for my whole rack!) on tomorrow, thursday morning, or saturday, drop me a line here or at 802-598-2555.

cheers!

You got stood up for climbing? Is there no shame? I am booked up through to Monday but you could probably find something by just showing up with climbing gear .

Lake Louise can be pretty friendly with most climbing starting around 5.9
Grassi can be a great place to meet people. Helmet required for the Golf course wall.
Heart Creek First rock and Bunny Hill (not as easy as it sounds) are also places where you could catch a ride on a top rope.

None of them are "bouldering destinations" (we don't have those around here) but you could boulder a little and "fish for an invite"

Good luck!

I recently moved to Calgary and haven't managed to meet climbers yet. I haven't climbed outdoors for a year or so, so probably right now could climb 5.10a/b and lead a 5.9 (sport). I used to boulder indoors alot so would love to give it a go outdoors as well. I have a random work schedule but mostly evenings or weekends are best. Hopefully get to meet some of you!

Hey, you rocky rockers around Calgary, I'm heading for the Rockies this week:

Thursday, 9 Aug 2007
Friday, 10 Aug 2007
Saturday, 11 Aug 2007
Sunday, 12 Aug 2007

You can join me, or I can join you.

With you or without you, I'll be somewhere on the rocks those days...

Hike up Heart Creek (a nice, easy, idylic hike)
Trad on any route on Kid Goat.
Explore McGillivary Slabs.
Top-rope on Cowbell Crag (maybe)
Scramble on Porcupine Ridge.

PM or e-mail, I'm flexible with schedule within that timeframe.

(Edited to add this P.S.)
P.S. My avatar picture shows me on top of McConnell Ridge. From where I'm standing, I can turn around and see all those places except Cowbell.

Hello, I am a NOLS wilderness instructor, travelling around Canada (Alberta and BC) looking to do some alpine climbing, either non-technical or easy 5.6-5.7 range, also trad cragging up to 5.10 hard (will do sport, but prefer trad). Seeking to meet cool people who have at least some experience but more important a good attitude and sense of humor. I am free from this Sunday for about 2-3 wks. I got a phone but don't know if I get reception

When are you at the Crux? I climb there at least once a week, but not at a 5.10d level. I've only been climbing for a couple of months, and at around a 5.10a level.

I'm looking for people to climb with; I'd like to try outside. I have a 4x4 and don't mind hauling gear if anyone wants to teach me :)

In reply to Ela's post, but a general note looking for climbing partners....
I also saw your note at the Canmore Clubhouse, I have just arrived in the Rockies and looking for partners for the next 2 weeks, till Sept 3. Love long alpine moderate routes, (5.6-5.8) rock and ice, would like to do some of the classics like Castle Mountain. Mt Fay, Mt Victoria etc, also interested in doing some rock climbing(sport or trad, 5.9) if I cant find anyone to do alpine routes with... Currently staying at the Canmore Clubhouse, contact me by Email at gypsy_doc@hotmail.com or try 1 867 334 8817,
Kate (from Whitehorse, Yukon)

I moved to Rockies to climb as much as I can but have difficult time to find partners for especially for aipine rock climbing.

I am working as a hiking guide and about 7 years of alpine/sport climbing experience.
I have some trad climbing experience in Japan, Yosemite and Indiancreek. For trad climbing Red point: 11b On-sight: 10c. For sport climbing Red-point:12a/b Onsight 11b

I also have alpine-climbing experience in Japan and Chamonix, France plus a few in Canadian Rockies.

I have a long day off from 27th Aug
wanna go to squamish, too.

Hey folks,

coming up to canmore on sat. eve and hopefully will be staying at the clubhouse for a few nights. Looking to hang out and climb some. I like easy to moderate multipitch - up to 5.8., craggin' it is good, as long as I use my gear at least once during this trip.

haven't climbed much in the area so all you gotta do is point and I'll climb.

drop a note here or email rotras1@hotmail.com

Uasunflower, I know you sent me a PM and I should have some time in September to climb. We can keep in touch... I should know for sure by next week what my fianl work schedule will be like.

And to anyone else who wants to climb, I'm living in Banff for the next 8 weeks and would be very interested in mainly afternoon or evening partners for climbing around the Banff/Canmore area. On weekends I have partners who come out from Calgary so I'm usually busy but you could probably join us depending on what we're doing.

I've been climbing for about 3 years, and can lead mid-10s sport. I can lead 5.8 on trad at Squamish but when it comes to the Rockies, I'm more conservative.

I have my own car and gear. Please PM me if interested.

I am not available for alpine during the week due to work, but I am always looking for people to get out cragging with after work. I am off at 3pm. Keep me in mind if you have a down day and feel like getting out.

If you are looking for people to get out on some alpine this weekend then pm me and we can discuss.

Hi,

I'm a student at the Thompson Rivers University and I'm planning a mountaineering trip at the Wapta Icefield somewhere between Oct 15 - Oct 28 2007. I've just finished my 7-day Mountaineering 1 course and I'm really looking forward to gain some experience.

I'm also willing to do a multi-day trip during the Christmas Holidays, for those of you that might be interested.

I get Thursdays off work. Currently I'm attending a course every Thursday morning.
I also get Sundays, which is my day to play (or to mow the lawn, if my wife decides to).

Ice Climbing Patner in Camore/Banff in Dec/Jan [In reply to]

Hi All,
I'm planning to be in Canmore for two weeks starting Dec 23rd with the sole purpose of getting as much ice/alpine climbing done as possible and I'm looking for a keen partner. It will be the first time for me to climb in the Canadian Rockies, having done most of my climbing in the Japanese Alps. WI4/5 and 5.10ish rock is where I feel at home, and I'm hoping to be able to do some of the classics like the Weeping Wall but I'm very open to suggestions, happy to try and follow harder stuff or cruise on easier climbs as long as we're out there and enjoying climbing.
I have a full ice rack and dry half ropes and will be renting a car while in Canmore so all I'm asking for is enthusiasm for climbing and hopefully some knowlege of the local ice climbing haunts.
If somebody is interested please drop me a line.

Cheers
