I truly believe that if all of us flame throwers got together for a climb we'd have a blast! I'd probably be laughing to much to climb though... and of course I'd be on a -5.0 also hahaha

you've been amusing so far, but some of the reg's around here get bored easily (unless we're discussing the relative pros and cons of Magic Sliding X's vs. cordalettes vs. equalettes vs. death-o-lettes) try not to wear us out in the first week. we're (mostly) just a bunch of civilians, you know.

OK, NOZ, now explain to us what that word is telling us. I tried researching your ooze of the word "word". I found you have submitted some neat pix of climberz, although you don't tell hooz they are. I searched RC.com for other guys' use of that bare word "word". Sure enough, it's been coming and going as a complete topic since 2003. Once, somebody tried changing it to "nice" -- but that didn't stick. I found 10 RC users with "word" in their user names, notably "wordless_chorus" who did not use the word in his posts. So, NOZY, what are you telling us? Hmm?

the_dave wrote: He's agreeing... That's how he's using word there I don't get it. Is this a code used in cellphone text messages? Or was it invented by the chat crowd? I know about LOL and ROTFLMAO, but "word" is not an acronym. Also I can understand "werd" as a pidgin or hill-billy "word" This reminds me of the prisoner's joke:
In reply to: The new prisoner joined the others in the mess-hall, and all the other prisoners were eating their fish-sticks and bread. One guy called out "23". All the other prisoners bust out laughing, and eventually fell back into silence. Another guy yelled "18". Again the others laughed for a while, then returned to silent dinner. "Psst", our new user whispered an older con at the table, "what's so funny"? "Those are jokes," said the man. "We know them all by heart, so we just list them by numbers, and everybody gets a chuckle." Hmmm... the new guy wanted to join the fun, and show how clever he was. "37" he yelled out. Nobody responded. "Psst", our new user whispered, "why didn't they laugh at my joke? Didn't I tell it right?" "Oh, you told it right. But that's an old joke, and we're tired of it."

nooyoozer wrote: wow, you are truely wasting your time trying to figure this out. let it go... werd up! No Noozer, you are truly wasting my time trying to smart in public. Although you are right about how I'm wasting my time. When anybody publishes a comment in a public forum (any forum, it doesn't have to RC), he has the right to fool his audience any way he likes . I don't know who you are, or why you're here, or what your buzzwords might mean. I always assume that you composed your posting on purpose, and that you started with some idea that you'd like to tell the world. So there was this one-word message, obviously posted on purpose, inviting me to read it. So I did. I had no way of knowing that your post was empty, useless bandwidth. But not entirely! I have learned about one of the hip-hop words in the Urban Dictionary, and one way to miss-spell it. I should research the expanded phrase "werd up" but I won't bother. I'd rather trade prisoner jokes with my wife, who knows a bit of Cockney Rhyming Slang.

He asks the guy next to him, "How was my joke so funny?" The guy says, "They hadn't heard that one before."

Hi... my name is richard... and I'm a Marine... and my job is to protect your freedom even when you say dumn sh*t!! Go pound sand! United States Marine Corps Scout/Sniper OIF II/ OIFIII Sgt. Gilbert I never introduced myself as military either, but I don't mind trading "I was there" stories... I was an Electronics Tech in the Canadian Airforce. I worked on high-tech gear on the CF104 supersonic jet fighter, and the F101 Voodoo nuclear interceptor. Also I did hangar-line service on a lot of other aircraft. I loved the job, because it was challenging both mentally and physically. The only weapons I handled were interceptor rockets with nuclear warheads. Thay probably wouldn't work if actually fired, but we were all serious about them. But this also taught me about the insanity of the cold war. We had very little exposure to rifles. In fact when my drill instructor said, "Never point a gun at somebody unless you intend to shoot him" that really took the fun out of playing war. In Canada, the Air Force was a funny version of "military". For example, everybody knew that our discipline came in negative quantities, and I sometimes felt kinda futile, because the government ruled the generals. On the personal side, I found some wonderful friends, and I'm still in touch with some. It was almost a perfect career choice. But knowing what I know now, I might have been even happier, if I had gone into Forestry Service instead. So I keep the best of my experiences, and today I spend every day I can, hiking and climbing in the Canadian Rockies. These mountains are wonderful!

If my buddies who have served (notice the tense) in the Marines are any indication, there remains much to be un-learned as well. I guess that last part all depends on the person though.

I learned that the only people who understand... are the ones with SpringLoadedCammingDevices on their harness... Making light of subjects that harm or kill potetially or actually is not very funny at all. There's sarcasm then there's just plain ignorance.
