Actually no climbing for me, my canadian friends are coming in tonight so we are going to hang out. Might be in SF tomorrow though, there has been talk of going to the Galactic show at the Fillmore.

I probably should know, but I don't know who the Galactic are. I actually have two differnent parties to attend tomorrow.

Won't drive for gym climbing? Yet more evidence you aren't as climb-addled as our favorite climbaholic. I'm actually inviting her for the next attempt on a link-up. We might be going party of three, but I don't think it'd be bad if we're still planning a two-day ascent. You should come with for the CJ tick.

Hah! It is true that I will not drive far to gym climb. I'd like to climb with you fellas, but it's a 40 minute drive minimum for me to get to mission cliffs. ironworks and class five are both 10 minute. And MC is supposed to be the most crowded!

Hmm, have to say I'm not real thrilled about the idea of a bivi this time of year. If I went for that linkup, it's something I would like to do in a day. Climbing with a pack really isn't one of my favorite things to do.

MC isn't too bad on a weekend day. It's those weekday nights that will get you.

I still have a bad taste in my mouth from rapping royal arches with one 60m. Something like 22 raps. Ugh.

Yeah, we only had one car at our disposal, so we didn't even plan on topping out. I don't know how late you can go to porcupine flat. Plus, I've already committed to climbing it with Eric and/or Amy so I don't a party of three is doing it in a day. I hate mucho rapping too, but we would have the double ropes allowing longer raps (although it looks like a lot of the raps can't be linked that way, unfortunately).

I think with two ropes you can actually link most raps. There was an anchor every 80 feet or so, which was good because I only had one rope. Only one was a real rope stretcher for me, a full 100'. That was scary for sure, barely made it.

You should read the TR's of the North Dome Gully descent. Also, you often end up rapping on that descent anyway! FWIW, a lot of people end up saying they much rather would have rapped down. I think rapping CJ would be alright in the light (probably less than 10 raps) and then you could either rap the arches or go for the NDG, depending on you felt.

I don't know, I hear from a lot of folks that NDG isn't so bad, so long as you don't have to onsight it in the dark. People do it with pigs, so it can't be that heinous. It gets done in less than 45 minutes by people who know it.

"before Jack gets too old to be a man-tor"
That's it murf! One more disparaging word from you and I'm going to take that larger than life poster, I have of you, off the wall above my bed!!!1

"Jack - Keep trippin over your old routes. Did Predatory Tigress again. You ever do The Popsicle while you were over there? WTF is with those hangers ( on TP, not PT )."

SO... Now you want to be nice? I think you are just trying to fuk with my emotions? But all is forgiven, I still love you. PT, that thing must be almost 20 years old, late 80's? Popsicle, Had to go back to the guide to check that one. Has a check mark, don't remember too much about it. Sorta steep face(for josh), a couple three bolts, near Cleared for Takeoff? Hangers on TP... as you have aready noted, many times in the past, I'm old and feeble minded. You have to give me a hint as to what TP is.

I don't remember a lot of the new routes we did back in the day... unless I'm reminded. I do think I remember that, Tailgunner, Girdle Crossing, Just Say No To Jugs and Life Without Principle were pretty good, I guess I could be wrong about that though. The mind is a terrible thing to lose.

And don't be such a stranger.

Jack got it in one on the do-gooder. But I think he's reforming.

The Popsicle = TP, interesting only because its on the back of Bartlett's red book. And the fact that the homemade hangers are like tiny crowbars, but those aren't your fault.

Life W/O Principle is interesting. I've recently heard good things about it, although the clipping stances were a bit odd *cough* *cough*... interesting name though. Buford's House of Liver was hard too, bit crumbly.

Anyway, I'll have to swing by New Jack. Let me know what Art is working on, 'cause real life stalking is where its at.
The plan is to work on the Action again this season.

If murf ends up sport climbing... TAKE MANY PICS! That way I can post them when he starts talking bolt chopping.

Well, yeah, but we'd be onsighting it. Linking RA--CJ in a day in winter it would be dark, no doubt about it. I guess hiking up it is a good way to go, so you know the way down afterward.

Here's the plan Eric and I have: Do RA first day (don't have to start at 6am like everybody is always doing); bivy at the top of RA (get fresh water); we will have sleeping bags and Eric has an ultralight tent, so the cold won't be a problem; stash gear near CJ start the next day, where we'd rap back into; then, after the route, we'd either rap RA or maybe do the NDG, depending on daylight left to figure out that path and how we feel about the raps.

We'd be a bit heavy on RA, but I don't anticipate that being the biggest deal. For the slab of CJ, we'd be much lighter.

Hey, why wouldn't you do the walkoff? It's supposed to be a bit on the rough side, but I think I'd rather do that than rap 2500 feet.

A tent?!?!?

you guys are out of your minds. That's exactly why you should do it in a day, so you don't have to take all that bullshit and you can just enjoy the climbing.

PTFTW!!!!

Watch and learn, sweet tits.

There's hope, Tits. Right, NSFW? I remember you beating zekeness for the wekeness when it came to PTFTW. But then you came back with a vengeance. It would make a great ptftw/mBOMZ montage, following NSFW's rise to ptftw glory.

You have no proof of my early wekeness... it's lost in the murky depths of contentless masses. haha!

Yeah, the first couple of bombz were pretty bad too. Although I did like the Apocalypse Now one.

Although, in my defense... I had to learn back when PTFTW actually mattered. Much steeper learning curve, once we came within 5 posts of a PT all hell would break looz.

hah! I remember when you first started gunning for them. You really were the new zeke back then. We had you shut out for a long time before you broke through and started bagging them. I think art and I denied you like 8 pages in a row or something. good times!

I also snared the 20,000th post or something. I think I backed into the pt too. Post that apocalypse bomz again, that was a good one.

i'm curious....

Careful CI, sweet tits is "curious". Next thing you know he'll be living in SF, walking naked on Mickey's Beach with a rainbow flag wrapped around him self yelling up at you: "pull that knob you big stud you!"

That's exactly why we're bivying, so we don't have to worry about epicing in the dark and can enjoy the climb! Trust me, we already packed it to see what it would be like and it's not the pig you seem to think we're hauling. Eric likes his ultralight alpine gear, so the tent is as light as it is expensive. We won't be carrying "the pig" on CJ anyway, so I'm not too worried about it. You've got to remember that neither Eric or I have done RA to know how fast we'd go on it. He and I doing the linkup in the shortening days is unrealistic and has "epic" written all over it. But it sounds like you want to link RA to CJ in a day soon? I'd be game to try it with somebody who has been up RA before.
